BANISHED!!! "BANISHED!" The Alpha Male roared, "FOREVER! NOBODY SPEAKS TO ME LIKE THAT!" I was scared, this was all my fault. If only I had realised that the meat belonged to the Lion's, none of this would ever have happened. "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" The Lioness boomed, trying to defend herself. The Alpha Male scowled at her with hatred in his eyes, so scary that even the toughest of the tough couldn't withstand. "WELL HOW COME I JUST DID? GO AWAY, GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!" He thundered. The female turned away from him. "Come little one," she called to me, and we ran off together until we were far away from him. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean for-" I apologised. The Lioness gave me a smile, "Don't... It was my fault. And anyway, If I hadn't have spoken up you'd be in his stomach right now." Then we both sat there, neither of us saying a word. Until... "Where's your mum?" The Lioness asked me. I didn't want to say but I decided to anyway, "She's... Dead." I answered. "The Wildebeest took her, in a stampede, there was nothing left, no remains, nothing..." I sighed. "I miss her so much. It's hard to survive by myself." The Female glanced at me, "If there was nothing left then how do you know she's....gone?" I thought about that question, it wasn't hard to answer... "She can't be alive. She was taken with the Wildebeests." We sat there in silence for another couple minutes. "I'm Sheba by the way. What's your name?" She questioned. "I'm Bella." I stood up, "I'll be off then," I said, "Got to scavenge for some more meat." Sheba looked me in the eye and said the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me.........

Rage Was Bubbling Up... The next day... The sun was rising on the horizon and I had woken up early enough to see it. As beautiful as it was, I couldn't let the sunrise distract me. I was on a mission: Stay Alive. I wasn't going to complete that mission staring at the sun all day- it would blind me if i attempted too anyway. I wasn't very hungry so I skipped breakfast. I looked at my food pile to see how much I had left (just in case) and there was barely anything. Most of it was bones so I decided it would be good to go searching for more some time soon. And off I went. I carried on walking until I came across another watering hole. A different watering hole. There was trees surrounded by the watering hole and underneath the furthest tree away from me was the biggest pile of food I have ever seen. I ran towards it, like nothing else in the world matters... But I didn't realise the HUGE mistake I'd made. And I only remembered that I should've checked for any other animals BEFORE running towards the meat once I'd seen the Lion's hidden behind the tree. It was too late... "Well, what do we have here?" Said the Alpha male, prowling out into full view. "Looks like a troublemaker." Replied another. I slowly backed away but it was no use. All of the Males surrounded me in the blink of an eye. "Always up to know good." He continued. The Lion's were all glaring at me, the evil look in their eyes made my spine shiver. "Leave her alone, she's just a cub." I heard a gentle, soft voice purr. Then, a tall, slender female bounded out into the light. She smiled at me and I instantly knew she was going to try to protect me. "You're scaring the little one," The alpha male turned around to look at her. "Don't you want an extra meal?" He spat. The brave Lioness puffed out her chest, "No, not if it means you hurting this cub I don't." Rage was bubbling up inside of the Alpha.......

Was This My Chance? Peering through the tall grass, I thought I'd seen it. Some meat. An abandoned kill. I rubbed my eyes and pinched myself to check if I was dreaming, I wasn't. I had a quick look around me to see if there was any other animals that wanted MY food. There wasn't. I legged it towards the meat, not stopping for anything. At last I'd found some food, I felt so proud of myself. I devoured the Gazelle, savouring every bite. I knew that I deserved this meat, I had earned this kill. This Gazelle was MINE and NO ONE would take it away from me. I didn't end up finishing the whole thing so I dragged the rest back to my little shelter to eat another day. Every mouthful counted. But now, I had another problem, I was thirsty. You can survive a few weeks without food, only around 3 days with no water. I wandered around, trying to find a watering hole. Lucky for me, it was only a 10 minute walk from my shelter. When I arrived, there was plenty of other animals: Hippos, Giraffes, Elephants, Monkeys, Zebras. I didn't stay for long. I took a few big gulps of water and started choking. Then, one of the Giraffes hit me in the back and I fell into the water. I stopped choking but everyone started to laugh at me. So I left. I arrived back at my shelter and my Gazelle was still there. "I love you Mum." I whispered to myself, a tear rolling down my cheek. And off to sleep I fell...

The Following Day I could hear the birds chirping, they were singing a beautiful tune. I didn't want to open my eyes, I didn't want to face the day ahead of me... But I had too, I just had too. I prised my eyes open, forcing myself to do so. I took a look at my surroundings. Luckily for me, I was still in the same place I had been the night before. I searched my body for any injuries, nope, I was fine. My next worry was food. I'd probably slept for about 6 hours straight and I was starving before I went to sleep so by now I was very famished. I realised that I would have to be a scavenger to survive- it was that or eat grass. I plodded around searching for a scrap, but i couldn't even find a morsel. I was getting desperate. But , in the distance, I heard a noise, not any old noise, but the noise of a Lion roar. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw it. A pride of Lion's tearing their victim apart. I licked my lips... So good. I must've been sat observing these Lion's for a good 30 minutes until they had finally finished their meal. As soon as they'd evacuated the area, I dashed towards the leftovers. FINALLY I'd get some decent food! Oh... The vultures got there first. I needed food fast. I needed food now. How much longer could I survive?

Terrified I was terrified. I couldn't, I wouldn't, but I had too. I had to run away. Staying at home wasn't an option. I wasn't safe there. I had to bring myself to do it or I'd be a goner. I didn't want to leave, but I had no choice. I had 2 options, stay and die or go and live. It was hard to leave, but it was for the best. It was what my Mum would've wanted. I felt like my whole world had come crashing down. I'd be leaving all my memories behind but I did it in the end. I ran in the opposite direction to where IT had happened. I carried on running and running, I wouldn't give up. I ran and ran until I could run no more. I eventually came to a stop, after what seemed like an eternity, for a break. It was getting dark, I knew I'd better go and find a nice, comfy, resting spot for the night. Trying to ignore the rumbling of my stomach and the constant flashbacks of the day's previous event, I finally found a great and hopefully protective shelter. I closed my eyes and cried myself to sleep...
