Under One Roof Chapter 3 Three cream walls and a baby blue wall in the centre. Fitted cream wardrobes, one on the left and one on the right. In the middle stood a cream chest of draws, which was the home of a 36" plasma - blue. A cream double bed rested parallel to the draws, which a blue and cream speckled quilt lay upon, with matching pillows. I drew a breath, taking in my new room. In the middle of my room, my suitcase was placed, untouched. Walking over to it, I pulled it onto my bed and unzipped it. My eyes watered, seeing what was the last thing I packed... It was a picture of me and my mum when we went to the lake for the weekend. We didn't have enough money for a fancy abroad holiday, so we used to go to the lake in a little wooden cabin, heated only by the log fire. It was lovely. We went in winter, when we could get skates and fly over the iced over water; light the log fire and drink hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows; go for walks in the crisp white woods, where the trees have a layer of snow on them and the grass is frosted. By this point, I had tears streaming down my face and the photograph hugged into my chest. 'Mummy...I miss you...' I spoke to the memory, inked into the glossy paper... "I miss all our times together... I miss our town... I miss England... I miss being home alone for hours on end - even though it really annoyed me, when you over worked... I miss your cooking, your burnt cooking... I miss your artistic creations and our little backyard, crammed with flowers that were every colour of the rainbow... I miss you mummy..." "I'm sure she misses you too" a familiar voice said softly.
Under One Roof Part 2 Share, like and let me know what you think It seemed like an awful long drive from the crowded airport to Jack and Jill's house. I was watching all the houses fly by, watching the moon. When I was young, i believed that the#moonfollowed my car: it felt special. But, of course, my geography and science lessons crushed my dream of that. Soon, I felt the car slow down. Jack rolled his latest model of the Land Rover window down, 'sherbet Lemon' he said, and winked at Jill. Big flashy gates opened to let us in. They led up to a huge white house, I knew that their family was well off...but this is crazy. Suddenly, the grand door swung open and a flustered woman ran out, screaming into the house, "I AM NEVER COMING BACK! I PITY YOUR PARENTS." She flashed a quick smile to the land rover, stormed over to her Citron C3 and sped off. "Not another one...," Jill mumbled, straightening her skirt out and turning around to face me, "As soon as we get into that house, 5 boys are potentially going to bombard you with questions, most likely harass you..." My face dropped, 5 boys! Wow... Jill must've noticed my panic stuck face because she chuckled to herself, "you'll be fine, just show 'em who's boss." I nodded slowly. Jack had parked the car by then and he had gone to get my bag, "well, now or never!" I said to myself softly, however Jill must've heard and giggled, "They're not that bad! Haha!" I reached for the door handle and stepped out into the gravelled earth. Walking up to the staircase which led to the door, Jill came beside me and flung the door open. "BOYS! We have a guest. Come down stairs, NOW!" She yelled into the depths of the great house, a few grunts and groans echoed, "make yourself at home, Hun." I nodded and took my shoes off by the door. "I've put your case in your room, I'll get one of the lads to show it to you later." Jack told me, coming down the red carpeted stairs. The house was amazing, I was still stood at the door - gobsmacked. There was a big hall way which had white doors leading off into separate rooms on the left side. On the right, stood a marvellous white staircase, which had a red velvet strip with a gold runner, running down the stairs. It was beautiful. From the ceiling hung a breathtaking crystal chandelier, i don't know whether the crystals are real but it still looked spectacular! "Rachael, come in here." Jill pressed. Following the voice, it lead me to the front room, which had 8 boys sat in and Jack and Jill. "This is Rachael. Rachael this is Jack, he's 22..." Jack nodded, he had sandy blonde hair which came up to his shoulders, stubble on his chin and he was a bit buff... "Michael...," he looked up from his phone, and three-finger waved. He was quite stocky, stubble for hair, brown eyes." "Call me Micky, Rach." He grinned, flashing beaming white teeth, winked and returned to his phone. "He's adopted..." "I AM TANNER!!" A high voice spoke, I looked around to see who the voice belonged too. Tanner had short black hair, in a red beanie, black DIOR glasses and a great smile... "Hello," I smiled, giggling to myself at how outgoing and gay he was. "Micky is 21, and Tanner is --" Jack was cut off by the one and only, Tanner... "I KNOW THIS ONE!" He wailed, flapping his arm in the air, "19!" Everyone laughed except from one brother, he sat leaning against the wall on the floor on his iPhone. He had a leather jacket on and ripped jeans. He was gorgeous. Noticing me looking at him, he looked up and glared at me. "Anyways, that's Harry...he's 19," Jill continued, "Call me Haz." He looked at me, prying his eyes which were glued onto the tv for two seconds - if that. 'Haz' had brown shoulder length hair, he was quite weedy and skinny, with brown eyes and a nice smile. "Up next is George, he's 17 and in a year above you at school." George smiled, "hello" he said politely and waved. He looked quite nerdy, but also like a catch with the ladies. George had light brown hair, and a fringe. He was cute! "Hey" I waved back, awkwardly standing in the doorway. "That's Stephen, Steve, he's 18." Steve didn't even look up, but I could tell he had somewhat of a beard, black hair and he was quite cool - but also uninterested... "Last - but not least - is Ashton!" He looked up, fully, gaining my full attention. It was the hot, moody one! "Hey, I'm in your year at school." He smirked and leant back on the light green wall. "Right, so now you've met all the boys, Ash will show you to your room. It's the blue guest room." Jack smiled, taking a gulp of his cup of tea, glancing to the tv to see what was on. Great, I was ready for a long nights rest! "Oh, and when you come back Ashton, we will all discuss the Nanny troubles." Jill sternly told them. A loud groan erupted from the room and a few, 'we don't need a nanny!''s. I giggled, and followed Ashton to my room. "Don't get lost." He said, and opened my door after two flights of stairs and a few twists and turns. He turned around and disappeared, leaving me in an empty part of the house which I could now class as 'my room'.
Under One Roof "We're sorry to tell you this, Ma'am, but your mother is at the trauma ward in the hospital. She's been involved in a serious car accident." This news had been buzzing around my head all day. My mum's face: cut, bloody and bruised and her body crippled and broken, will be forever etched into my brain. ----- As I got off the long, cramped plane journey, there was two beaming faces waiting for me... 'Jack and Jill' I thought, they were mum's best friends in university. They were typically 'The Couple': they both won the title of PROM, they followed each other to university, got married and moved away... "Rachael? Is that you?" Jill asked, a smile glowing on her face, however there was still a shadow of sadness in her eyes...,"you've grown so much!" I smiled sadly and nodded. The last time I saw Jack and Jill was at their wedding 16 years ago - and I was 1. "I need to get my bags" I murmured, snuggling up into my Abercrombie and Fitch hoody - that was three sizes too big. "I'll get them, let Jill tell you something's about us..." Jack insisted, "what's your bag like?" "Leopard print.. You can't miss it..." I said, awkwardly stood there . I didn't want to be here, California. I miss England. I miss my friends. Strangely enough, I miss the rain and the wind... America is too hot, the sun does nothing good! Makes you have freckles - who wants that? After my mum's...accident... Jack and Jill were here to 'take me in'. My dad left us- me, when I was 3. 14 years ago, I don't really remember him. From what I do know, he was an abusive alcoholic... I took a seat on the work out chairs next to Jill, facing the windows which allow you to see landing planes. Jill was a petite lady, with brown hair and pale skin. Her facial features were dominant; she had gorgeous blue eyes and laughter lines surrounding them. She was very beautiful. "Hun...there's something we have to tell you..." She hesitated, watching the incoming planes. "Carry on..." "Well, Jack and I, we have children.." She paused, an unsettled aura tested upon us... "Get to the point, please..," I said, "sorry, I don't mean to be rude..but..." Crossing my legs over, I looked at Jill. She was biting her nails, nervously.. "Rachael, we have 8 children." I felt my jaw drop, now my nails were being bitten. "Eight..." "Yep! We'll meet them all when we get home." As if on cue, Jack appeared. "Ready to go?" We nodded simultaneously. Was I ready?
