Back To School Everyone knows that Sunday before back to school feeling. Especially us teachers who have been experiencing that feeling for 30+ years! Well; the clothes are ironed, the bags are packed and we shall all have an early night. We shall then toss and turn and have odd 'back to school' dreams until 5.30am. We will then fall into the best sleep of our lives only to be ripped from our beds less than an hour later by the shrill tone of the alarm. We will stumble through our morning routines and I will rush to drop the children off. Then at around 8.40am, as I clutch a coffee and go out onto the playground, I will remember how happy I am to be there!
New Arrivals Sorted out all the baby things today for my younger sister, who is expecting in June. The kids were so excited to see their baby things again. The 8 year old wanted to be pushed around in the pram and they both played for ages with toys they turned their noses up at years ago. It was lovely to have the memories of mine as babies, a little sad that babyhood is done now for us and exciting that soon we will get to meet our family's newest member. And this one will be without sleepless nights for us!
Toddler Times The boy has not been easy today. I'm fairly sure there is a bottom shaped imprint in the naughty step! He is testing out his boundaries and trying to play us off against one another. I remember being quite shocked by how young they start this when I his sister was this age. However children push the boundaries because they want to know where they are. And oh has he found out where they are today! In my professional #life I too often see children who do not get a firm enough boundary from a young enough age. How scary this must be to be unsure how far you can push against the boundaries, not just of parents but society too as they grow older. We have all survived they day though, and he is now happily singing old macdonald had a farm. Every moment of tantrum is repaid with magical moments like that. This evening we will chat, laugh, chill out and mentally prepare ourselves for the next round tomorrow!
