Safe Saying I'm fine, when I surely am not, This ache in my chest, the pain I have fought, The lies that spill from my mouth an ongoing sin. You must stay away, I can't let you in. You know this feeling, maybe all too well. But who are we to ponder and dwell. We rarely look forwards but always stare back. My mood best described by the colour named black. The darkness consumes me, it envelops my days Wearing my mask keeps the questions at bay.

The Way We Were. I used to say I love you, While staring in your eyes, But let the truth be told now, We were accustomed to goodbyes. We found each other in darkness, We never really new why, Most of our time spent muttering, Beneath the ever changing sky. I never knew you fully, You'd never let me in, You remained a mystery, A game i'd never win. Yet I told you all of everything, My dreams, my fears, my strife, To you I was an open book, The first time in my #life. You seemed to understand me, A feeling that couldn't compare, You always knew just what to say, Or when to just be there. The hours spent together, Some of the absolute best, Our walks and conversation, We never really needed the rest. I made the worst decision, I hurt you because I couldn't repair, I was an idiot to do so, To hurt someone who cared I presume you had cared, For you never said aloud, Our relationship mainly secret, Hidden away from the crowds. I do so often wonder, What our story would have said, I think about the ups and downs, And the tears that we've both shed. I wish I'd got to know you, I wish I'd spent the time, We have our separate lives now, I know you'll never be mine. You and I, we were so close, Sadness our founding friend, Forever never spent together, It's heartbreaking how things end.
