Chapter 4 Emma wakes up to her alarm clock. "Ugh," she mumbles as she tries turning it off. Once it's finally off, she gets up out of bed and goes over to her dresser. It's her first day of school and she doesn't want to be late. She grabs a pair of baggy jeans and a pink t-shirt. Emma was never very fashionable. She gets dressed and heads downstairs. It takes her about five minutes to find the kitchen. The maid walks in and stares at her in disgust. "What are you wearing?" the maid asks in disbelief. "Cloths," Emma says sarcastically. The maid stares at her for a few more seconds then walks into the kitchen. Emma sits and waits. The maid then brings out some pancakes. "Eat up." The maid then makes her way back into the kitchen. Emma starts eating the food little by little. As she's eating, the butler walks in. "Time to go to school Miss Emma." Emma stands up and walks back into the coat room. She then grabs her book bag and picks up a lunch with her name on it. The butler escorts her and Justin to the car. They sit in the back seat as they are being driven. After about seven minutes or so they pull up to a huge school building. "This is your stop," the driver tells them. They both get out and then the man drives off. Emma and Justin walk up the steps and into the building. When they get inside, they start to get butterflies in their stomach. The hallways are packed with people. Emma wanders around, looking for the office as her brother trails behind. The hallways start flooding with people and Emma can't see a thing. She finally decides to ask somebody for help. Emma looks around for a moment trying to find a person to ask. "Um excuse me?" Emma says as she taps somebody's shoulder. "Yes?" the girl says back with a bit of a tone. "Oh, um, I'm new here and I need to find the office." "Ah. It's down at the wayy end of the hall," the girl says pointing. "Thank you," Emma says a bit relieved. "So what's your name?" the girl asks. "It's Emma. What's yours?" "Courtney. But you can call me Court for short or whatever." "Oh okay. Well nice meeting you, Court." "Nice meeting you too. Bye." Emma turns away and walks off. She makes her way down to the front office then goes inside. "Hello dear. How may I help you?" the woman at the front counter asks. "I'm new here." "Okay. What's your name?" "Emma Stone." "Oh Emma Stone, Robert Stones daughter." "Yep." "Well it's nice to meet you Emma. Me and Robert went to collage together. Anyways here's your papers," she says as she hands her the papers. "Thanks." Emma turns and leaves the office. She looks through the papers and try's to find what homeroom she is. Homeroom 342. Emma looks through the papers for a map. "Aha," she exclaims as she pulls it out of the stack. She studies it for a moment. "Room 342, third level," she mutters to herself. Emma goes over to the stairwell and makes her way up to the third floor. She walks down the hall and enters room 342. Everyone looks up at her. Emma walks up to the teachers desk. "Um, I'm Emma Stone. I'm new." "Good for you!" the teacher says sarcastically, "Take a seat." Everyone laughs. Emma turns around in disbelief. How could someone be so rude!? She walks to the back of the classroom and sits in the corner. The teacher continues with his lesson. "Ugh," Emma thinks to herself,"I hate this school already!" Emma looks around the classroom and studies all the people. She notices some people talking about her, and just by the looks of it, what they are saying is not nice. Emma tries to hear what they are saying. "Eww, what is she wearing?!" one of the girls squeals in discusted. "She looks like a hobo!" another girl says as she laughs. "Tots," the other girl says in agreement. Emma stares at them in disgust. She turns away away and looks down at her cloths. "I do not look like a hobo!" she says to herself. Emma always thought that comfort was more important than style, and skinny jeans are not comfortable. It's not like she doesn't have the money to buy fashionable cloths, she just chooses not to. The girls carry on with their conversation as Emma studies more people. Emma gets excited when she notices Court in her class. The bell rings and Emma gathers her stuff. As she does the two girls walk over to her. "Can you afford actual cloths?" one of the girls asks rudely. "Um, what?" Emma asks confused. "You look like a fucking poor person with that tots ugly outfit of yours," the other girl adds. Emma is shocked. She was never really talked to like this. The girls start to laugh at her. Emma stands up and walks out of the classroom. "Hey wait!" Somebody shouts. Emma turns around and is not surprised to see Court. "Hey Court," Emma mumbles. "I saw what they did and it was not nice," Court says as she shakes her head,"They're mean to everyone!" "Who are they?" Emma asks. "Only the most popular girls in school. Brooke and Natalie. Most girls hate them and almost all guys have a crush on them." "Well they disgust me." "They disgust a lot of people." It's quiet for a moment. "Do you want to sit next to me and some of my friends at lunch today?" Court offers. "Really? Yes!" Court laughs. "Well this is my class. Nice talking to you. See you at lunch," Court says as she walks into her class. "Bye," Emma mutters. All Emma can think about is how she already friend.
Chapter 3 The taxi pulls up to this huge, white, house. "This is your stop," the taxi man tells them. Justin grabs the amount of money due from his wallet and gives it to the taxi driver. Emma and Justin get out of the car and both go to the trunk to get their luggage. Justin opens it up and pulls the suitcases out one by one. Once they shut the trunk, the taxi drives off. They lug their bags over to the front steps then struggle to get up the stairs. "This can't be happening," Emma mutters to herself as she tries to pull her suitcase up. Justin rings the doorbell and they both wait for their dad to answer. Emma's heart pounds quickly. She hasn't seen her dad in so long. After a minute or so the door swings open. Their mouths drop open when they see who's behind the door. It's just a woman in an apron holding a duster. "Sorry kids you can't borrow money. The accountant told us that we shouldn't just be giving out money. Sorry." The woman almost shuts the door, but Justin stops it with his foot. "We arn't here to borrow money. We are Mr. Stones, erm, kids," Justin tells her. "Oh," she says shocked, "come on in." She opens the door up wider and they try to drag all their luggage in. "Oh, kids, you don't have to do that, we have a person for that." "Oh, okay," Emma says quietly. They put their luggage down where it is. "Well Mr.Stone isn't currently here, but I'll show you to your rooms anyways." "Oh. Thanks." They both look around in amazement. They've never been in a house so big! "Mr. Damaro!" She shouts, "Please take their luggage to their room! Oh, and by the way, Mr.Damaro is the butler. They nod their heads. "Anyways you guys must be Emma and Justin." Yet again, they both nod their heads. "I'll show you kids to your room," she tells them. Emma frowns. She hates it when people call her a kid. The lady starts walking off and they both follow. She brings them to a long hallway. "You can pick any room you want." Emma looks down down the long hall of rooms. There's about 25 rooms! Emma starts walking down the hall and studies each room. She walks to the very end of the hall and opens the very last door up. There is a set of steps that she walks up. When she gets to the top, she immediately likes the room. It's painted rose red with a wooden floor. It has a queen sized bed with a rose red comforter, 7 pillows and a canopy. The room also has a wooden desk and dresser. The room is pretty well sized too and has three windows. One window in front of the desk, another next to the bed, and a small round window up near the ceiling. "This room is perfect," Emma whispers as she puts her backpack on the floor next to her bed. Emma always had a thing for old fashion rooms. Mr.Damaro comes in with her luggage and places it on the floor. "Good evening Miss Emma." Emma smiles and he walks off. She grabs her luggage and starts putting all her stuff away. After she's finished, she goes back down to the hall to check out Justin's bedroom. She makes her way down and enters this medium sized room. She walks straight in and finds Justin unpacking his stuff. "Cooool," she says as she studies his room. His room is sports themed. It has a baseball ceiling fan, a desk that looks like a basketball, and a closet with sport stickers on it. The room also has a really cool football bed. The bed comforter looks like a football field and the bedpost is a goalpost. "Isn't my room just perfect?!" Justin asks. "Yeah,"Emma says. She turns around and walks away. Emma heads back up to her room and lays on her bed. This is gonna be a long year.
Chapter 2 "Emma! Wake up!" Justin shouts as he shakes her frantically. Emma's eyes slowly open. "Whattt?" She moans. She looks around and realizes that the plane has landed. "Did I fall asleep or something?" "No, you hit your head when the plane jut forward a bit, and then blacked out....but your fine." She touches her head and feels the bandage wrapped around it. "How bloody was it?" "Your head was pretty bloody." "Oh. Ow." "Well we can talk about this later. We have to get off the plane now." Emma stands up and grabs her backpack. Wow. This is going pretty bad so far. She struggles to get her backpack on as her brother gets the luggage. He hands her her suitcases which she almost drops because they're so heavy. "Let's go," her brother mutters. Emma nods her head. They wait in the line of people who are also trying to get off the plane. "Grrr." Emma thinks to herself. She tries to think of the positives but she just can't. "I loved my #life at sunny California, but now I have to suffer a year here in New Jersey," Emma thinks to herself. "Why couldn't our dad just stay in state?" They both get off the plane and walk through the tunnel. "We should probably call a cab," Justin suggest. "Yeah," she says as she pulls her phone out of her pocket. Emma takes a seat in one of the lobby chairs as she calls a taxi. After a five minute phone conversation, she hangs up the phone and grabs her bag. "Let's go wait near the door. Our taxi number is 76," Emma says. When they get up to the front door, they wait. Suddenly a man runs into Emma causing her to drop all her luggage. He just walks by acting like nothing happened leaving Emma to pick everything up herself. "Here let me help you," Justin offers. But before he can even put his arms out to pick the stuff up, another guy is already helping her. "It's okay. I got it," he says as he grabs her bags. "Oh, thanks," Emma says shyly. "So is it your first time in New Jersey?" "Yeah." "Oh, I guess it's not going to well" She laughs quietly. "What happened to your head?" "What do you mean- oh this?" She asks as she points to the bandage around her head. "Yeah what happened?" "When the plane jut forward I flew up and hit my head." "Oh, ow." "Yeah." "So who are you staying here with?" "My dad." "Ah." Justin taps on Emma's shoulder and when she turns around he points to our taxi. Emma grabs her luggage and half smiles. "Well my rides here. I better get going." "Alrighty. Nice talking with you," he says as he smiles showing his white teeth,"Oh right, what's your name?" "I'm Emma. What's yours?" "Josh." "Oh, okay. Hopefully I'll see you around." "Bye," Emma quietly says as she turns around. Justin and Emma walk over to the door then leave. They put there stuff in the back of the taxi and get in. "Where would you like to go?" the taxi driver asks. Justin reads an address of a slip of paper while the taxi driver puts it in to his GPS. When he starts to drive, Emma looks back and tries to find Josh, but he seems to have left. He's never going to get out of her head.
