Chapter 4 Emma wakes up to her alarm clock. "Ugh," she mumbles as she tries turning it off. Once it's finally off, she gets up out of bed and goes over to her dresser. It's her first day of school and she doesn't want to be late. She grabs a pair of baggy jeans and a pink t-shirt. Emma was never very fashionable. She gets dressed and heads downstairs. It takes her about five minutes to find the kitchen. The maid walks in and stares at her in disgust. "What are you wearing?" the maid asks in disbelief. "Cloths," Emma says sarcastically. The maid stares at her for a few more seconds then walks into the kitchen. Emma sits and waits. The maid then brings out some pancakes. "Eat up." The maid then makes her way back into the kitchen. Emma starts eating the food little by little. As she's eating, the butler walks in. "Time to go to school Miss Emma." Emma stands up and walks back into the coat room. She then grabs her book bag and picks up a lunch with her name on it. The butler escorts her and Justin to the car. They sit in the back seat as they are being driven. After about seven minutes or so they pull up to a huge school building. "This is your stop," the driver tells them. They both get out and then the man drives off. Emma and Justin walk up the steps and into the building. When they get inside, they start to get butterflies in their stomach. The hallways are packed with people. Emma wanders around, looking for the office as her brother trails behind. The hallways start flooding with people and Emma can't see a thing. She finally decides to ask somebody for help. Emma looks around for a moment trying to find a person to ask. "Um excuse me?" Emma says as she taps somebody's shoulder. "Yes?" the girl says back with a bit of a tone. "Oh, um, I'm new here and I need to find the office." "Ah. It's down at the wayy end of the hall," the girl says pointing. "Thank you," Emma says a bit relieved. "So what's your name?" the girl asks. "It's Emma. What's yours?" "Courtney. But you can call me Court for short or whatever." "Oh okay. Well nice meeting you, Court." "Nice meeting you too. Bye." Emma turns away and walks off. She makes her way down to the front office then goes inside. "Hello dear. How may I help you?" the woman at the front counter asks. "I'm new here." "Okay. What's your name?" "Emma Stone." "Oh Emma Stone, Robert Stones daughter." "Yep." "Well it's nice to meet you Emma. Me and Robert went to collage together. Anyways here's your papers," she says as she hands her the papers. "Thanks." Emma turns and leaves the office. She looks through the papers and try's to find what homeroom she is. Homeroom 342. Emma looks through the papers for a map. "Aha," she exclaims as she pulls it out of the stack. She studies it for a moment. "Room 342, third level," she mutters to herself. Emma goes over to the stairwell and makes her way up to the third floor. She walks down the hall and enters room 342. Everyone looks up at her. Emma walks up to the teachers desk. "Um, I'm Emma Stone. I'm new." "Good for you!" the teacher says sarcastically, "Take a seat." Everyone laughs. Emma turns around in disbelief. How could someone be so rude!? She walks to the back of the classroom and sits in the corner. The teacher continues with his lesson. "Ugh," Emma thinks to herself,"I hate this school already!" Emma looks around the classroom and studies all the people. She notices some people talking about her, and just by the looks of it, what they are saying is not nice. Emma tries to hear what they are saying. "Eww, what is she wearing?!" one of the girls squeals in discusted. "She looks like a hobo!" another girl says as she laughs. "Tots," the other girl says in agreement. Emma stares at them in disgust. She turns away away and looks down at her cloths. "I do not look like a hobo!" she says to herself. Emma always thought that comfort was more important than style, and skinny jeans are not comfortable. It's not like she doesn't have the money to buy fashionable cloths, she just chooses not to. The girls carry on with their conversation as Emma studies more people. Emma gets excited when she notices Court in her class. The bell rings and Emma gathers her stuff. As she does the two girls walk over to her. "Can you afford actual cloths?" one of the girls asks rudely. "Um, what?" Emma asks confused. "You look like a fucking poor person with that tots ugly outfit of yours," the other girl adds. Emma is shocked. She was never really talked to like this. The girls start to laugh at her. Emma stands up and walks out of the classroom. "Hey wait!" Somebody shouts. Emma turns around and is not surprised to see Court. "Hey Court," Emma mumbles. "I saw what they did and it was not nice," Court says as she shakes her head,"They're mean to everyone!" "Who are they?" Emma asks. "Only the most popular girls in school. Brooke and Natalie. Most girls hate them and almost all guys have a crush on them." "Well they disgust me." "They disgust a lot of people." It's quiet for a moment. "Do you want to sit next to me and some of my friends at lunch today?" Court offers. "Really? Yes!" Court laughs. "Well this is my class. Nice talking to you. See you at lunch," Court says as she walks into her class. "Bye," Emma mutters. All Emma can think about is how she already friend.
