Escape I had a plan, a way to get out, a corrupt warden, a key, that's my best shout. I made my deal, just wait for the sign, waiting for dark, then pick the right time. I got the guard cash, he got me the key, he smuggled it to me, in my evening tea. I got the door open, it led me outside, I can now taste my freedom, it's just in my sight. A few seconds pass, the alarms now sound, the guard has betrayed me, they start to surround. I head for the fence, I must try and climb, if I can make it over, I know I'll be fine. The shots start ringing, I feel myself fall, the coldness is coming, I've just lost it all.
Out Of Time This morning when he woke up, he didn't know his time was up. Pulled back the covers and put joggers on, and off he went for his daily run. Across the field and along the stream, the crisp air helps with his daydreams. Approach the road, there's nothing there, suddenly he starts to gasp for air. Clutching his arm and holding his chest, someone's having a cardiac arrest. Down he goes with no one near, glances at the road but it's still clear. Passes out his time is nigh, not even a chance to say goodby. It's all a shame the minister said, to wake up one day and end up dead.
