Arête And Adara (Greek Myth) The daughters of Terpsichore, the muse of dance, and Eros, Cupid the God of love. Arête, the goddess of curiosity and wonder, and Adara, the goddess of health and wellness, used their gifts to aid their parents with their own. One day Arête's curiosity got the best of her and she went exploring on earth, she had always admired the work of Poseidon the God of the sea. Curious of what it was like under the sea, Arête called for Poseidon's youngest daughter and her best friend Nerissa to help her go under the sea and observe everything he made. However little did she know that Poseidon's only son Triton had been doing some admiring of his own, on Arête. "Nerissa... Are you there?" Arête waited a minute then to her surprise Nerissa popped out of the water with her father the mighty, ruthless and regal Poseidon. "Yeah, we're here. Are you ready to go under the sea?" Arête nodded and looked at Poseidon. "Arête, my dear child, drink this potion it will allow you to breath under the water so you can come and observe my creations." With pleasure Arête drank the whole potion then she followed Nerissa and Poseidon under the sea. Meanwhile Adara was looking high and low for her sister. Adara, the goddess of health and wellness was always worrying about Arête and what kind of trouble she might get into. Just as Adara was about to go to her mother she caught sight of Aphrodite, "oh hey Adara, let me guess... You are searching for Arête again." Adara was always trying to come up with an excuse. "Yep you are always right Aphrodite. Can you help me look?" With a quick nod Aphrodite agreed to help Adara find her always wandering sister. Without a single clue of where to look, they started out in Zeus's throne room. Arête loved to sit next to Hera and ask her how she got to be so beautiful. On Olympus Aphrodite and Adara were frantically searching for Arête. However, under the sea Arête and Nerissa were having tons of fun. Arête looked all around the grotto she was in, "Nerissa this is so cool, I love it down here. Everything is so beautiful." Arête was babbling so much that she didn't even notice Triton came up behind her. "The scenery down here isn't the only beautiful thing down here." Nerissa rolled her eyes at her big brother's comment. Triton was just trying to sweet talk Arête so he could marry her but, Arête wasn't interested "Triton, what do you want? How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not even interested in you like at all"
