The Crow "Dead is dead, both innocent and guilty We all bleed red, some clean, some filthy" So said the crow, cawing in the sky The dead lay in rows; in prayer as we cry "Our horror knows no end; the world is in shock" But let us not pretend to join the lamenting flock For we live a #life of luxury; so far away from death A consciousness is drudgery; endured wih every breath "How merciless are our lives with this burden of humanity; To challenge all these lies is absolutely maddening" "I am only a bird, come to find a meal I have no responsibility to know how to feel And yet I do not feign sorrow over this terror As you have done time and time again in error For it was I who was sent to Abel and Cain Brother against brother; alive and slain But I am just a crow, a lowly bird How far will this go? It is absurd To think that walls and wealth and lies Could mask the truth in children's cries You do not hear them inside your homes So perhaps you'll listen to their voice in my #poem Your kind is different; claiming humanity Too proud to admit destructive insanity "I stand with the oppressed" you say and yet I think not For the oppressed no longer stand; they lay here where they've fought But why believe me; what could a crow possibly know Iv'e come for my meal and soon I will go
