Her I was fourteen when I met her And I don't know what came over me, But I sat down beside her, introduced myself And the rest was history There was something about her The girl from New Jersey, Who was loud and funny, And had a least a hundred different Sharpies She was so unique So different from anyone else So easy to love, And yet she didn't love herself I was fourteen when we became friends I remember she swore a lot Everyday she copied my homework, Claiming she'd forgot We liked the same movies, Had the same favorite bands And it made her laugh When we compared our hands Hers were so much smaller She always hated it, How short she was, But I didn't I was fourteen when I fell for her And I was scared 'Cause where I grew up Gay wasn't something you shared I remember when he broke her heart And all she could do was cry She kept saying no one loved her And she wanted to die And I wanted to scream I wanted to tell her the truth, But I couldn't So I choked back the, "I love you." I was fourteen when she left She went back home It was for the best Here she felt so alone She wasn't meant for here She's happier now And I'm happy for her, But I'm still crying somehow I apologize for my tears In fact, I don't think I would've cried Had she not twisted the knife By not saying goodbye
