Is It Just Me Or are kids these days racing to grow up? When I was 11, I would never have dreamt of smoking, taking drugs or involving myself in sexual relationships. It's not exactly hard to see the change in kids attitudes, but the saddest part is they don't get their full time of growing up space; the making forts out of duvets, having spontaneous picnics in the garden, and dressing up and convincing yourself that you were the best superhero to have walked the face of the planet. Come on little'uns, grow down for a bit.

All the suggestive stuff on tv all the time. There's no escaping it unfortunately. And the more you don't want children to listen to something the more likely they are to want to do it. We need a fresh start really. (-:

Too right!!! It's a hell of a job to even get my 7yr old to play outside in the sun! It's me nicking her rollerblades and taking off down the road on jelly-legs while she stays indoors... With plasters at the ready!!! Haha! Kids these days (mine really!) don't know their born, and it's really sad because they are missing out on so much by trying to be adults.... I'm trying to be a flippin kid again!!! Haha!

This is true. I see so many 11-15 year olds mouthing off down the road wearing the shortest mini skirts with their chests out and cigarettes in hand. When I was at that age, sure I was experimenting with make up, but I was still playing with dollies with my best friend, not looking for boyfriends etc.

@Stablish I agree that the media is heavily affected this, and that the majority of shows today are based around images that 11 year olds soak up like a sponge haa.. @Charlie92 I was experimenting with makeup and stuff too, but certainly not to the extent that some of the kids I see do. @RedWednesday don't grow up until you absolutely have to, and I'm a firm believer that that day doesn't actually ever have to come

I work in a primary school and I am shocked at how old and streetwise our 11 year old pupils are. They watch inappropriate television programmes that are aimed at adults and children. Because at the end of the day, they are children. I remember when I was 11, I didn't know half as much about sex, drugs and other adult themes as the children of today seem to know. What makes it even harder is that as a mother of two, I have to discuss issues with my children that I'm mot prepared to at their age but when they come home from school asking questions u have to have theses talks do that my children are not bullied or picked on because their peers have femmes them to be babies becasue they don't know things.

I may one of the only people to not agree 100% (probs cause I am around that age) but I hated those years of my life, 10,11,12. I've always been more mature for my age and I don't agree with teens smoking, and taking drugs but at my age you have to make the choice to either follow the crowd, or do what you know is right. That was the most critical decision of my life and I would never change anything I ever did. Also I'd like to point out not as many underage kids are this bad as you think. Xx

Ugh, you think it's bad...I have to live with it every day of my life! Everyone swears in conversation and all they talk about is boys. It bores the hell out if me. And why do people need to swear??? It's really offensive and rude! I feel so 'left-out' as I'm not madly crazy for boys, I spend my time with horses instead. I don't wear make-up or jewellery. I hate fashion and mostly wear jeans and a T-shirt. I don't know who made girls like this but they should be ashamed!!!
