Creep. Chapter 1 Part 2 I was sent to my room with just a tiny bit of breakfast. Without a care, though. Sometimes I have no breakfast at all because we ran out of everything. Just like other kids my age, I had school uniform to attend to school in so I decided to do that when I reached my room. So after a short while I was stripping off and re-dressing in my white shirt and green cardigan. Girls aren't allowed jeans so I dumped on a skirt and tights. Now I was ready I could do anything I wanted to. 'Don't forget to brush your teeth, Valerina!' mother called. Oh yeah. I had a date with Mr Toothbrush just before I set off to school. We're a pretty bad couple you see, however my mother comments that I must brush my teeth or they'll rot and look like ramshackle castles with broken windows behind the large yellow sun. On that note, I've always been brushing and flossing twice a day. And that's the "romantic" story of how my unlikely relationship with Mr Toothbrush begun. Just... Great. My delicate hand fell in contact with my fancy golden doorknob. Twisting it carefully, my door creeped open. I tiptoed out realising I should really be sitting in my bedroom. The bathroom door was already wide open son I felt free to walk straight in. It was soon time for school. Bags were packed, teeth were brushed, faces were washed and feet were imprisoned by shiny black shoes. Without even saying the first letter of goodbye to my parents, I flew out of the door. Usually my friend Olivia would pick me up but she'd moved to the country side with her stepdad and mother. Today was different because I was going to have to walk with Jamie. I did walk with her once but she realised I was walking with Olivia so she soon walked alone. Recently she offered to start walking together again. How could I say no to that? Before I could take just one step into the street, I saw Jamie racing towards me. I smiled at her delightedly. 'Hi Val! So, are you ready to set off?' She said happily. 'No, I need to do my homework.' I joked. 'Of course I'm ready!' 'But seriously though, have you done your homework?' Jamie mumbled in a worried tone. I shook my head in shame. 'No but we'll deal with that later.' I stole her hand and practically dragged her up the path. Her face turned rose red once we reached the top. At first I was confused at to what she was blushing at until I turned around. It was Simon, the obvious crush of Jamie. Everyone who knows Jamie has a clear thought that she loves him. Even Simon himself knows. He tries to be friendly to her and also backs off when he knows he'll cause embarrassment. I must say though, Simon is rather charming. Lots of girls have a small feeling for him, even me. My hopes are higher than the pyramids to be his friend. However I can't blurt it out to him, poor Jamie could take it rather seriously. 'Hey Simon,' I finally blurt out. 'On your way to school?' 'Yeah, wanna walk with me?' He asks. This could be the perfect opportunity for Jamie to express herself. Slowly I spin around to Jamie. Her eyes glittered in disbelief. Smiles were all hopeful that I'd consider Simon's offer. I gave her a tiny wink. 'Yes, we would.' I called as I turned around. Simon nodded at us and waited for me to begin walking. Jamie's mouth stayed shut the whole way and just pretended Simon was invisible. I didn't dare ask her why in front of Simon. Imagine the humiliation she'd feel. Despite the awkward silences throughout the stroll, I thought that Jamie did well handling Simon. I couldn't help but crack a couple of jokes once in a while. It made Jamie's hair bounce on her shoulders when she spluttered out a laugh. We all laughed a lot. Coming to think of it, the jokes weren't the thing that made me and Simon laugh, it was actually Jamie's chuckles that were hilarious. We laughed so hard that I saw some disturbed adults peering out of they're doors looking at us horrified. By the time we reached to school gates we had all practically wet ourselves with laughter. All the kids in the playground threw their eyes on us. Some kids, mainly Simon's mates, we're cracking up too! Maybe the jokes helped Jamie out with her crush because once the bell went, Simon called at Jamie: 'Oh J, you are so funny! I hope you don't mind me calling you that because I think that'd be a good nickname for you. You can also walk home with me if you like because I know you'd make our journey great fun!' Jamie's face after hearing that was a true picture. Bless her soul. Could it be that my new best friend is waiting right across the road from me?
