Ben… (14 The Finale) I stood in Ben's shower humming to a song. I couldn't remember it's name or even the words but I was in too good a mood to care. When Ben and I got back to his house he hung the clothes, out my bag, up to dry. His mum offered to let me have the shower first before going out to Tesco. She told me she wanted to grab some groceries. I rubbed my hands through my hair. I changed the song to something I could remember the words to. "Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend…" I sung to myself. I switched off the shower and climbed out onto the cold, tiled floor. There was a towel on the towel-wrack right next to me. I picked it up and wrapped round me. Just as I turned around the door opened and Ben walked. In my shock and panic I screamed and dropped my towel. It cascaded to the floor so that it was sitting in a pile at my feet. Ben glanced at it and then looked me straight in the eyes. "I'm sorry, Alice!" He told me. But he didn't sound particularly sorry. I crouched down to pick up my towel; we kept eye contact the whole time. Ben stared into my eyes for a few seconds before turning out walking out the door. He shut it quietly behind him. And in that, exact, second, I realised just how much I loved him. I wrapped my towel around me and then ran out onto the landing. I jogged after Ben who was walking slowly towards his room. "Ben?" I asked cautiously, I was scared to get hurt, again. He swung around so that we were just a couple of inches away from each other. Our faces were just a couple of inches apart, so were our lips. Ben looked into my eyes. His looked so hurt. And so I realised: I had put him through just as much pain as he had me. He should have hated me, but he didn't. Ben lifted his hand to my face… and pushed a strand of my wet hair behind my ear. He still looked me straight in the eyes. "I've missed you!" I whispered. Ben bent down so that our faces were level. He reached forward and our lips met. He was so gentle that, at first, I thought I might be imagining it. But I knew it was real. Everything else slipped out of my mind. I forgot about my argument with my mum, I forgot about all my fights with Ben. The whole of the outside world slipped out of my mind, there was just Ben and me. He pulled away. "I've missed you, too…" The end
