No one Else (part 2) Sophie gazed up at the cabin. It looked sturdy enough to her. She loved living in California. She thought it was so beautiful and perfect in every little way. "We have a cherry tree, peaches, watermelon by the creek and lemon trees. Oh, I forgot the grapes, do you like grapes?" Jordan asked. "I love grapes!" Sophie jumped up and down. "Lets go inside, we can't go out after dark, IT will find us." Jordan looked at the ground. "What is IT?" "IT, Sparky, Killer. Whatever you want to call it." He hurried into the cabin. Sophie followed, admiring the wonderful plants. For once in her #life, she felt calm and peaceful. Three hours later, after Jordan showed Sophie the cabin, it became very dark. Jordan bolted the door shut and barred up the windows. Sophie could hear wolves howling outside the cabin. "I didn't know there were wolves in this part of California." "That's the thing--there aren't." Sophie got scared, she was only in third grade. "What is it then." Sophie was shaking. "Can't remember. I've tried too hard to forget. At night I dream about the sharp teeth. Next the fur, dark as night, claws as sharp as knifes, and eyes-red as blood." "You seem scared, why?" Jordan lifted his sleeve and showed Sophie the purple scar that would forever be on his arm. Sophie winced. "Ow." "Yeah, pretty gross." Sophie laughed half heartedly, "Yeah." The next morning Sophie went out much earlier that Jordan. She was outside picking grapes hours before he woke up. Sophie saw large footprints from the thing that circled the cabin. One trail led up onto a hill overlooking her window. The other led into the woods. "It was watching me?" She whispered. Sophie grew angry with the beast. She knew that Jordan slept with a dagger, so she snuck into his room and took it. Sophie was going to look for IT... Twenty-five minutes later, Sophie noticed the tracks end in front of a large cave. Around the cave, she could see missing bark on some of the trees along with animal blood and scratches. Fur was lying around the ground and in some of the trees. Sophie cautiously stepped into the cave. She heard growling in front of her, then saw the two red eyes and felt the steamy breath on her face. "I'm not scared!" Sophie shouted when she saw the whole body. It was black, as Jordan described, also the sharp teeth and long claws. Sophie was actually very scared. She was shaking very much but would stand her ground no matter what happens. The thing lunged at her, Sophie's only defense was the knife. She held it up and closed her eyes. Meanwhile Jordan had woke up and was now searching frantically for Sophie. "Sophie!" He shouted. "Oh, no!" He saw her small footprints leading to the cave. "It will kill her!" He dashed into the forest and within ten minutes he was at the cave. "Sophie!" He shouted, "Where are you!" Jordan walked into the cave, immediately stepping in a large puddle of still warm blood. He saw the beasts' footprints made of blood exiting the cave. Sophie's prints were no where to be seen. Jordan knelt down in the blood and started to cry. He heard someone walk up in front of him. He looked up prepared for IT to eat him on the spot. But it wasn't the thing, it was Sophie...
