A Boy Called Charlie Chapter 2 Charlie was woken the next day by the gentle muffles from his sick brother. However, Charlie had woken several times in the tedious night as Will's violent coughing was very loud. Will woke soon after Charlie, clinging onto him. Their mother ambled into the room, a slice of bread and a jug of water in one hand. "Boys, quickly." The boys were greeted by this saying every single morning. Therefore they were quick at this routine. Well, they didn't have to do much, just get off the floor and have a little food. "Bye mother" they chorused. Their mother waved to them until they appeared tiny dots in the distance. Yet again, the brothers didn't say a single word on the way to the factory and its menacing owner. "Ah boys!" cried Mr Briggs, "Great to see you." They nodded and darted towards the huge machinery. Working, the two boys often nearly trapped their poor little fingers in the machine. Unfortunately, one of Mr Briggs' other workers trapped their fingers in the machine, and they fell of resulting in him losing blood very quickly, turning pale and fainting. "BOYS! They are so silly! Why do they have to FAINT?" cried Mr Briggs. The unfortunate boy, name William, lay on the floor, losing more and more blood by the second. Eventually, Mr Briggs gave in and called an ambulance on his expensive telephone. The ambulance took at least ten minutes to come and were horrified by the sight of this boy. They carried him away and placed him in an automobile. A few hours later, Mr Briggs received a call from the hospital, exclaming that unfortunately the poor boy had passed away from loss of blood. Mr Briggs hung up and slammed the phone down. "What are you staring at workers? Get on!"
