What Poetry Should Be Poetry should release a man of many symptoms, Or give him hope during grief. Poetry should light the halls of silence With its warm engaging glow never brief. Poetry should unite the lands under one verse Casting out the darkness and pain. Poetry should be written, spoken and sung aloud Through the heaviest rain. Poetry should usurp the throne of malice And bring peace and equality. Poetry should connect the furthest nations And respect authority. Poetry should gather the words of famous minds And combine it into art. Poetry should be warm and welcoming, And fit into everyone's heart.
