If Only ( Part Two ) The newspaper contained the one thing that he had been dreading would happen, for the last 5 years. An extract from Melissa's diary. How could this have happened? He knew the case wasn't watertight, but he really didn't believe that Robert Hills hadn't committed the crime. Poor Melissa. The horror the poor girl went through, the things that had been done to her, and it was all happening again. Her parents, Julie and David, had been through enough, and for purely selfish reasons so had he. According to the paper, an extract from her diary had been sent to the offices of the newspaper. It contained her most personal thoughts, and fears. The only way anyone could have access to the diary, was if the person that had sent it, was the person who had killed poor Melissa. His #life hadn't amounted to much, an ex cop who had worked himself almost to the grave. A huge drink problem which had lost him his marriage and kids, and a fair few friends in the process. The things he had seen, haunted him like you wouldn't believe. Peter just couldn't shake off images from a certain case he had worked in his 30 years as a homicide detective. Within 10 seconds of picking up the paper, every horrific moment of that one case, came flooding back...
