Today has been wonderfully healing. Hubby and I went out, to the wild North Coast of Cornwall, via wide mouth bay, following the tiny very steep and windy coastal lanes, stopping occasionally to take photos, smell the salt of the sea 200 feet beneath us, and listen to the waves breaking on the rocks, as they have done for millennia. The rock strata is extremely unusual, kind of crunched and wavy, and where the waves have eroded the cliffs, there is a particular place where there is a face looking out to sea. Crackington Haven is literally that. A tiny harbour, with a slipway onto the rockstrewn beach, an old bridge with a little stream running out across the beach, eventually meeting the sea, and, at this time of year when it is cold, ( bracing ) and few people about, utterly peaceful and soothing. A laugh rang across the beach whilst we were looking for shells ( only found one, given stony beach not much #life ) , and we spotted a man trying to cross a rather slippery looking pipe, to get from one side of the stream to his girlfriend without getting wet.. It was so funny. He was wobbling like a jelly and all his girlfriend was doing was laughing. I think I must have a mischievous sense of humour in me somewhere . My hubby and I have done similar daft things and ended up very wet, once with his shoe floating away downstream , on the way to South devon. Later, after beach we had home made bread pudding , and large espresso at the haven cafe in crackington. Yummy. Then, still feeling weirdly energised, we carried a few miles further down an even more remote rural lane, which wound up and down to Boscastle. If you've not heard of it, check it out, as it is a magical place. Sadly virtually destroyed by a major flash flood a few years ago, it had to be rebuilt over several years. Remarkably no one was killed or injured in the incident, thanks to brilliant rescue work by raf and police helicopters. We are now recovering at home, as on a mad whim ( impulsive ideas are part of what can make #life fun. Sometimes
