Krystal sighed as her eyes reluctantly opened. "Didn't I just go to sleep" She thought. But alas this was indeed a new morning, along with the perfect weather!,rain crashing down on the window and the gut wrenching screech of the tree as it battled against the wind. Rolling out of bed and grabbing a blanket, from under the window. " I have got to get this thing fixed, damn draught" She muttered while checking that it was closed. Yawning and stretching She checked on Charming, still zonked out in his basket, "morning sweetie" She whispered as She bent down and kissed his little ears. Walking down the stairs this house seems to get bigger and bigger. She thought She'd be used to it by now, it's been 2 years since anyone else lived here. Krystal stopped on the third step down, thinking of a time when laughter and smiles were all around. There's not been one sound of another's laugh since the accident off of the highway. "All the times I'd imagined it happening yet still I wasn't prepared" she quietly thought. The day had started great that summer morning, birds singing , sun shining and she was going to have a lovely quiet day. Her parents and brother were off to a routine opticians appointment. She had said bye but wishes now that she had said more. Police arrived at 3.10pm, a time etched on her brain forever. She didn't know if to open the door at first but then they did it, you see it in all the movies etc... She never knew they really did it. They remove their hats to their chest. Her whole #life as she knew it ended right then. Shaking her head She snapped out of her thoughts, unaware that tears had fallen down her cheeks. Couldn't live in the past anymore, and anyway today She was going to finally going to move on, first trip of the day Estate Agents. Turning the tap, the ice cold water splashed on her hand as it filled the kettle. That woke her a bit, now to get some food. Even though She lived on her own She couldn't help but buy for four people. Force of habit people would say. Reaching for the coffee something tickled her ankle. "gasp" She almost dropped the jar, "oh hello you, come'ere" she said as she picked up the little fluff ball currently nuzzling her feet. "How is little Mr Charming today?" She said, smiling. Me Charming had been her cat for almost a two years now well cat he was more of a tubby kitten. Krystal had rescued him from a family that were moving, they had left him in the yard and when asked they had no plans to take him. He had looked up at her in that afternoon barely three months old, shaking and grubby. How could someone dump a living thing so fragile. Krystal wasted no time in taking him, first to the Vets where he was diagnosed as having a fever of 105.2 then to home where he would never want for nothin. She smiled at him in her arms, gave him lill kiss on his nose, "Let's get you some kibble, hmm". She set him down at his bowl, purring contently.
