Forbidden Lessons
The day turns bright and the curtains are making the room look dark and shallow as the creeking white door clears the silence of Leo's sleep. The time strikes 9am and the wind slows down making the door creek quieter as Leo awakes. When he sits up with his eyes still closed, he feels a warmth on his leg like someone is with him. He opens his eyes and dazily smiles "Hey sis, how are you?" he questions seeing her reflection that projected through his sleepy dream. Just then, she disappears into the thin air as the white casted projection becomes nothing but a transparent dream. Leo smiles again and slowly lets his legs drop off the bed to the ground and feels his slippers sink into his feet "Another dream huh?" Leo questions again rhetorically.
Lilly walks in the room opening the door letting the sunlight of the top floor flood his room "Aww sweetie did you see your sister again?" she asks walking in to see the curtains still closed. When she walks to them she can sense her daughter's presence strongly and feels warm with the surroundings. She stops at the curtains and enjoys the feeling that flows through her body with thoughts of her daughter coming back. Lilly looks back at Leo and sees he has his pyjama's on "Come on Leo, we need to get you changed for school. Your going to be late again". He dazes off the bed and staggers to her sleepily and holds her hand "Mom i'm already late, can i please just stay off?". Lilly points to the bathroom and gently pushes Leo into the direction "Get a shower son and then get changed for school".
After Leo took a cold relaxing shower, he walks to his room happily feeling fresh as he smells the fresh air rush through the front door of the house. When he gets to his room with only a towel around his waist, he sees that Lilly is no where to be seen with the curtains still closed. When Leo goes to the wardrobe for clothes, he smells the food from downstairs and smiles trying to guess what it might be. Whilst getting changed the alarm clock goes off an hour late and he laughs "No wonder i'm normally late, the bloody clock is set wrong". when he gets changed, he hears mom laughing at the tv and shakes his head as he opens the curtains and walks downstairs with his notebook still guessing the smell "Pizza got to be Pizza". When Leo gets downstairs, it looks as if hes disappointed when he sees food on the table with Lilly sat at the sofa watching tv. "Mom what is that?". she smiles and looks back at Leo "It's your favourite homemade pizza sweetie, enjoy". Leo shakes his head and sits down unsatisfied thinking something is wrong with her as she never cooks for him in the morning. When he starts to eat he tastes the slight crispyness of the sides and spits it out "MOM! YOU COULD OF KILLED MY TASTE BUDS, this isn't pizza it's basic cake" she laughs and says "April fools dear".
"MOM THATS NOT EVEN FUNNY!" Leo yelled and stands up leaving the pizza alone whilst swinging his school bag on his back through both arms. He then walks sickishly to the front door scraping the money off the window sill next to the door taking it into his hands "See you later mom, i'm going to school now". Lilly turns to him and waves as he leaves, suddenly theres a loud bang on the front door sending Leo flying back in shock "mom there is someone at the door and it doesn't sound friendly". Lilly gives Leo a curious look and gets up to walk to the door and opens it to see her drunken brother standing at the doorway with a bottle almost slipping out of his hands looking the worst. "Oh no James, whats happened to you?" she pushes her away and walks past to see Leo near the stairs scared "And what are you looking at!". Leo then quickly turns away from the scruffy sickening smell of his alcohol and focuses his eyes on something past him to distract himself from looking at james. Once he gets to the door, Leo looks at Lilly and smiles giving her a kiss on the cheek "See you tonight mom". She waves again as Leo walks down the pathway to the gate leaving to go to school as Lilly closes the front door to talk to James.
Once Leo looked up in the sky, he could feel the warm gazing heat almost burning through his blazer as he thinks of some girl that would rescue him from the sad lonely #life that he has.
Leo looks at a shop sign "Deal on Fanta orange two for £1". He smiles and runs in for the offer thinking about the money that he took of the window sill and looks around inside which looks to be a library of birthday cards and magazines with different newspapers. "Leo! long time no see my boy, how could i help you" the middle aged good looking man asks. "I'm looking for the deal on fanta sir, could you help me?" he smiles and pulls two from below the cash register "For you Leo anything, these are on the house and thank your mom for helping me decorate my new house for me. That was really kind of her". Leo takes the two bottles and smiles at the man that offers him them and takes a step to the door "I will sir thankyou, i will have to go now to school, be back after it though sir". The man starts to laugh and looks at Leo "Don't worry Leo i will still be here when you finish, you just go and enjoy your day" Leo nodded and walks out of the shop putting one of the fanta bottles into his bag and walks to school sipping the other bottle as he walks.
Once he got to the school gates, he looks at the school clock and sees that he is an hour late with no one in sight but the security guard with a dog patroling the outskirts of the building.
Once Leo found an entry, he quietly opened the squeeky gate and runs to the path up the stairs into the school building where he sees no one is in the corridors so he thinks about what to do for 10 minutes. Eventually Leo decides to go to his locker to get his note book out to see if he has completed his homework that was set for the last lesson of the day. He was walking down the empty cold and light corridor seeing his reflection in the floor as he walks then squeezes between two boys that randomly come out of class talking. By then the bell rung loudly for 5 seconds so Leo ran to his locker not wanting anyone to see what was inside.
Once Leo got to his locker, he saw the picture of Anna and Leo grouped together with the sunset water behind them taken by Leo's mother. When he saw it he instantly relaxes and sighs happily as his eyes soften into the picture that is cellotaped to the back of Leos locker. Once he looks at his books for class, he gets his math book and notebook out ready for next class then closes his locker so he can walk to the abandonned library where he always goes to at break so he can relax.
When Leo starts to walk there, he sees two people fighting in the corridor so he stands still to watch feeling nothing but sadness and hurtful sights as his past bullied #life starts to flash back like a film being recorded to watch before his eyes. He looks away sadly and goes upstairs on his right side and sees people rushing past up and down them busy barely able to move and turns left up them for another 3 steps with the brick walls being full dark crimson red when he runs his fingers off it when he walks. When Leo's finally up them, he sees the small narrow long corridor filled with lockers on the right breaking off into classroom doors and portraits on the left spacing between windows. Leo takes a step towards that direction and a teacher rushes past him knocking the laptop as he fights to catch it jiggling in a heat of the fast movement "Oh sorry i didn't see you there" the young new teacher says whilst having the laptop steady in his hands with a black laptop bag on his back straped around one arm. "It's okay sir, i best be going now" Leo replies as he starts to walk down the narrow corridor passing through people as they have their group conversations and jumps over some girls legs near the end.
Leo then opens the door to the library and enters leaving the door to close on its own and walks into where the people should be sitting with the desks and chairs for quiet relaxation in the middle with the book isle on the outsides breaking off with computers in the middle. Leo goes into the Japan language isle and picks a book out that has matured pictures and a nice border showing someone with a speach mark "I know japanese!". Leo laughed not knowing Anna was in the room with him in the other isle and walks out to where the desks and chairs are and starts to read sitting on a nice comfortable black small chair with cushioned furnishing.
After a few minutes Leo gets bored of reading and takes his bag and swings it on the desk moving the book out of the way closing it and reaches into the bag for his fanta that he recently opened and relaxes back into the comfortable chair drinking peacefully thinking that he is alone in the room as it was all quiet.
When Leo hears the book fall and the computer getting turned on he knew that someone was with him and smied as he puts his book down and stands up ready to go and check who it was. When he puts his drink down he hears fast footsteps running away from him so he went to the computer that made the sound and saw that they are still logged on. When Leo got curious who it was that was in here, he leaned back against the bookshelf happy and walks over to the computer and clicks start to see who has logged on and sees the name "Anna Wakahisa". Leos face went bright red and smiles happily getting lost into thoughts that she was in here with him when he was trying to learn and leans back against the bookself day dreaming about her and how he didn't know that she was there when he was in the middle of the room "How did she get in here? i was the only one here and the first, i heard no one when i first got here" someone thumps an book at the back of his head and runs away quickly after hearing Leo scream in pain "OWWW!!!" he yells when he turns round seeing no one there as they left the room already.
Once Leo looked back to the computer, he decides to log the computer off and shut it down so no one can use it. When the computer finishes shuttong down and the power off, he swings the bag over his back and drinks a little more fanta when he walks out the library door thinking it's haunted by people that like Anna. Leo sees the people out on the corridor again when he walks out and goes past them hearing the conversations similar to what he first listened to when he passes each one of the and then sees Anna with the corner of his eye and sees that she is blushing but doesn't know why and walks past her as she goes into her classroom for her lesson and sighs happily "Such a pretty school girl Anna" he thinks and keeps walking to the stairs and walks down them and through the connecting bridge to the other building as that is the only way from that building that was recently been built.
Once he gets to the bridge he looks over the edge and sees people messing about having a toy fight like his sister and him had and brought back memories of her running to her mom and then Leo calming down and apologising to her when she calmed down. After the memory of that passing he knows that he is going to be late as the second bell for lesson rings and walks to class faster than he did before.
Once Leo gets into class everyone goes silent and the teacher tells him to stay outside as it isn't the first time the that hes been late from the library. Leo stands outside and thinks of how he was late from all that short journey from the lbrary to the classroom and thinks that the teacher just started eary for no reason. The class begins without him so he turns around and puts his notebook against the wall and starts to write what happened in the library so that he knows for later that he has been in the same room as her. Leo keeps smiling when he reads it back to himself and the teacher comes outside with everyone working inside in peace "So whats your excuse this time boy?" Leo shakes his head and lays a hand on the teachers shoulder "Sir i don't have an excuse because there is no point in telling my reason to you as youd just send me in the classroom again and not believe a word i told you". The teacher laughs and smiles showing him the door "Lets just keep it at that for now and no more excuses as i have a headache". Leo smiles thinking "Wow that actually worked, amazing". When leo enters again, everyone in class goes silent and looks at him as he walks down the middle to the back of the class and sits down seeing that someones skirt is torn so he looks away and the girl sees him and thinks "Maybe not every boy is the same".
Once the teacher starts the class, Leo remembers the thought of Anna being in the same room as him and smiles as it warms his heart. The girl looks at Leo like some charming girl that she is and asks as a test "Hey please can you help me with my work when it starts? I have trouble reading". She giggles and thinks "Oh brilliant plan". When Leo looks at her sympathetically she frowns and questions "WELL!" he slides away shocked "Uh yeah sure i will" she relaxes and smiles "Good". Leo sighs and lays his head in his arms bored as the teacher starts to talk about what is going on in that lesson today. "Right girls and boys, now i see that your all in two's which is helpful because all todays lesson you will be working with the person next to you" The girl smirks "Oh brilliant, this is getting better!" she thought whilst listening to the teacher. "Now today all i want you to do is get an A3 paper and write down all the rules a teacher has to follow to make a student happy and safe in a classroom and i promise to follow all of the rules that you write that are sensible".
Leo gets up and walks to the front of the class to get a piece of A3 paper and sits down with a marker pen then looks at the girl. "Whats your name?" she smiles seeing a note in Leo's pocket then takes it out and writes her name on it so the other people don't see. "See, i've told you mine now you tell me yours" He smiles and replies so people are able to hear "I'm Leo". Everyone around him and the teacher look at him and feels everyones stare become heavy as Leos heart sinks into the awkward silence that filled the room. Once he felt a touch on his arm, he quickly moved and stood up seeing it was the girls hand as she looked sad at him. "Whats wrong with everyone? why is everyone suddenly sad?" A girl behind him hugs Leo and whispers "We all loved your sister". Leo's heart became more hurtful and sad as he remembers that this was his class when she went to this school. He fights her grip and sits back down whilst everyone watches him pick the black thick marker pen up and starts to write for the lesson knowing that everyone around him feels sad and damaged by his presence.
Half an hour passes and he sees the girl struggling with the work piled on other problems that he yet doesn't know and thinks how to approach her as he's never helped a girl with problems. Leo slides closer and puts an arm around her whilst trying to look into her eyes "Whats troubling you" her answer became work so Leo looked deeper into her eyes and asked again "The real trouble". Her eyes formed from tears that filled her eyes as she lays her head into his chest softly clenching his uniform shirt for the tears to fall onto his smooth black uniform pants. Leo feels shocked as no one watches and holds her softly whispering "What is wrong?". Her lonely watery eyes look up to meet Leo's and she smiles "You remind me so much of her". His eyes soften as he slowly snuggles into her whilst smelling the flower perfume that she has on her clothes. Once he hugs her sympathetically, she moans into a tender moment in his arms and feels the warmth in her heart that he makes from the touch.
The bell is close to ringing and Leo and the girl has already done their work whilst being in each others arms. Once the bell does ring, they slowly seperate whilst looking into each others eyes and smiles "Do you feel better now?" Leo asks. The girl smiles and nods whlist looking at the note in Leo's pocket "Keep it safe, don't let anyone know my name". He nods and leans into her laying his lips softly on her cheek to end the passionate moment between them. Once Leo sits up straight uncontrolably smiling, he see's the girl blushing as she thinks "Oh my gosh, my first kiss on the cheek off the first lesson of the day". Leo laughs and thinks "Well now she feels better i wonder how the teacher is". Leo looks at the teacher and smiles as she fakely smiles back looking away instantly giving leo the impression that something is taking her back from being a close teacher to talk to. "I wonder if i could get closer to her and let her be my teacher tutor? hmm someone thats an adult to talk to? that would be nice". Leo stands up leaving the girl behind and takes the A3 piece of paper to the front knowing that it would be a good excuse to talk to her. He passes the boys as they all look away from him when he walks down the middle and places the paper on her empty new desk. "Here miss, i brought my work to you. Want me to collect in all the other groups?" she smiles happily but shy and nods.
After all the groups work is collected and placed on the teachers desk the bell finally rings but the girl stays still, thinking about Leo's kiss as shes never been in that type of moment before. Leo looks at her and smiles looking at his bag on the floor next to her leg and then turns to the teacher as everyone leaves "Miss can i ask what is bothering you? you seem troubled". The teacher struggles to speak but finally reaches a few words that slips her mouth "Your sister was my closest student". Leo smiles even more thinking "I wonder if my sister was a white spirit, she seems to be loved by everyone" he gets warmer as he thinks that and feels his heart pounds strongly in love. Leo gazes into the space out the window and thinks more of what she was like until the teacher hugs him. He tries to jump back in shock but then realises the hug and relaxes into her still feeling everything very emotional after the romantic moment from the girl that is still staring into space about that kiss on the cheek. Once the teacher pulls back she quickly apologises and runs out of the classroom leaving Leo and the girl inside alone.
Leo turns back to her and makes eye contact as he softly speaks "I think we better go now or people will end up thinking things about us". She smiles and nods as Leo picks out the piece of paper that lays in his pocket. He reads it saying "My name is Bella" Leo smiles and looks at her "Come on bella, your going to be late to your next lesson". Bella grins whilst carrying Leo's bag down the middle of the tables and hands him the bag over with another note that she slips into Leo's pocket and whispers getting close to him "Don't read it until break time" Leo nods and giggles walking with her out of the class and shouts "OH NO!" he runs to the teachers desk and searches through the pile of work and gets his then writes down their names not thinking and puts "Leo & Bella" then runs to the door meeting her forgetting that Bella said never to say her name to anyone.
Leo and Bella went out of the classrooom closing the door slowly so it doesn't make a sound then runs to the lockers whilst being so close to each other with no one in sight. "Where is everybody?" Leo questioned as they were both running. "Don't you remember what time it is?, we're supposed to have our break right now" Bella replied and stopped at a boy that's got his back to them looking out the empty area covering the full single door. "Hey you!" Leo speaks as he taps the boys shoulder. "Whats the blockage for?", the boy speaks no words but turns round to see Bella and laughs suddenly speaking "Oh i don't know, Maybe because i want to make one". Leo and Bella look at each other pausing speechlessly then both push the boy out of the door way making him crash to the floor scraping and ripping his school pants.
They both giggle and run back into the school to see their locker corridor empty "Ah nice i can finally have some time actually looking through my books without anyone nudging me". Bella shrugs and pulls his arm to push against the wall fastly burying her head into his chest as two girls walk past casually talking.
"Hey i heard that new chick has a boyfriend", "Oh yeah i know, she's aiming for every boy she see's" the two girls chatter as they pass them.
After they pass, Leo lifts Bella's head up so that he can look into her eyes "Is that true? your after every boy that's here?". She pushes him on the wall stepping away from him "Yeah you think that's true you idiot?". He looks down at the floor sorting his creases out of his jumper "Sorry it's just that those girls normally don't say anything about anyone without getting to know the person, are you even new here?". Bella shakes her head and slaps him running off to somewhere she feels safe whilst Leo stands alone speechlessly.
Whilst the silence floods the school corridors, Leo catches a glimpse of a shadow running the way Bella went and took his first few steps into that direction whilst a school officer grabs his shoulder and swings him back to look at his face "And where do you think your going when the police is looking through the premises?". Leo gasps as he gives an innocent young eyed look to softening the mood of the school officer "Sorry sir i was just getting something out of my locker".
The Guy looks at his books that are hanging from his unzipped bag "I guess you got what you wanted, yes?" Leo nods as they both smoothly walk to the doors to go outside "Yes but sir, my friend ran deeper into the school and i'd like to look for her".
He looks at Leo with safe, calming eyes and laughs patting his shoulder "She will be okay, the police will pick her up and escort her out of the building. Although what was her name?". They both see Bella run their direction with police running after her as she accidently crashes into Leo making him tumble to the ground. "Ow that hurt!" Leo groans as he opens his eyes to see Bella on top of him hurt. "Owwwww! L..Leo?" she whispers making sure that no one hears from embarrassment. He smiles and strokes her hair "Shh just lets go outside" he whispers back looking up to see the school officer catch Leo's bag that fell from his back.
When Bella gets off Leo and offers him a hand, the shadow runs somewhere else of which only Leo saw again as he takes her hand. "Um.. sir? did you just see a shadow of something running into that door?" The guy shakes his head and questions "What door Leo?". He points to the library of which the police then looks at seeing the library door half open. "That's strange, normally that door is closed" The police look at their watches "And its supposed to be locked, where are the keys?". Leo looks at Bella and hugs her thanking for the assist off the floor. "It's okay Leo, just don't go by what people say without evide..." she stops at the sudden sight of the two girls passing by again and buries her head into Leo's chest. "Shh Bella, i'm sorry for ever questioning you" he smiles as the school officer is escorting the two girls back out again. "You are a real friend Bella" Leo says whilst letting go taking her hand to walk out hearing the two girls in front of them say "I wish i was her, she's able to take on anyone's heart apparently". The other girl replies "Yeah anyone's heart so she can break it, stupid girl". Leo covers Bella's ears with his hands and walks behind her.
Once they walk outside and out of the gates, Leo pecks Bella on the cheek "Thank you for being there for me when no one was, you helped me figure out not to judge someone so easily by rumors".
She smiles and bushes lightly turning away from him using a nasty tone to hide her emotions "Whatever, just don't do it again".
When both Leo and Bella look at the injured man, they both pause and turn to each other letting Leo speak first "Do you think we should help him?". Bella shakes her head as she sees the man walking into the forest slowly fading away "No way, even though he's hurt hes going into the forest and there's bad news around the school. Its too risky". Leo looks down to the ground agreeing "Your right, what was i thinking?".
Once they walk more to a park, Leo see's someone that he thought was real and walked to them tapping their shoulder "Excuse me, do i know you?". The person doesn't answer and stays still as Bella gets a little worried "Leo? who are you talking to?". He looks back at Bella and points to the person who isn't visible to Bella, "There's no one there Leo". He looks back at the person seeing that they've vanished then gives a confused tilting head look at where they were "The person was just here".
Bella takes Leo's hand once more and walks down the path that has tree's on both sides and the narrow sidewalk that's just enough for two people "Come on, i'll take you to my house". Leo instantly stops hearing her words "NO!" he shouted taking his hand back fast. "I can't go to someones house without my mother knowing where i am, it's just wrong and she'll worry". Bella takes a deep breathe and sighs "Your house it is then". Leo shakes his head once more "No ones house, lets just stay outside and enjoy the fresh summer air as we are in the park". They both smile and walk back into the park to sit down at the bench as the two girls from before show up and walk past Leo and Bella talking about them once again as they pass "hmm looks like we know her next target" one of them says as the other replies "Yeah i know and this time she's gone for someone that's got taste for once". Leo laughs at the compliment as Bella looks and then slaps him "You think this is funny? their calling me names and telling bad rumors and your just laughing!". Leo stops and looks at Bella upsetting "Oh come on, it's not like its true or anything... i mean you did say not to judge someone without evidence so there's nothing to be offended about". Bella stands up and walks a little bit "If that's what you think then we can no longer be friends, i hate people that don't think about how the other person feels. Goodbye Leo". She walks away in the opposite direction...
