Pretend.
Trust you are in a dream, today
Nobody need know, 'tis your delight,
How foolish not to make believe
If make believe can change your plight?
Pretend you're flying o'er the clouds
Nay, o'er the orange cotton bales,
The city lights are stars below
Each twinkle masks a fairytale.
Pretend to be explorers brave
Scaling forbidden roofs that lie,
The shooting stars, they know no fate
Yet, wish upon one starry eyed.
Pretend you're living in a song
Sing out your heart, with every step,
For whither music, if not to
Make real our dreamy inner depths?
Who is to say the truth is one,
That make believe is foolish waste?
Realities are subjective
Your fancies are all yours to taste.
Company that will indulge
In all the same dreams as your own,
Is by far the greatest bliss
My timid mind has ever known.
So won't you come pretend with me
For just a while, with shining eyes,
A fleeting flight of fancy, far
Into imaginary skies.
