Is University Worth The Excessive Tuition Fees? University has been the subject of many a debate over the recent months and years, and one question I always hear being asked on the streets is "is the university experience worth all the debt?" Well, in my opinion, which you could argue be a bit biased, being a uni student myself, is worth all the debt you gain. I wholeheartedly disagree with the excessive fee's the government have introduced like most students. The friends you will gain over the 3 years as an undergraduate will probably turn into friends for #life, even if they come from all around the country, linking into this is the benefit of being surrounded by people who are from different areas of the countries and from different backgrounds, this gives you better knowledge of the country as a whole, and different class cultures. The friends you make will be invaluable, there will be times in your first year where you have a lot of spare time, you may start to feel emotional about it all but your mates will always be there to cheer you up with a drink! As a uni student you will come to learn the magic of a Thursday night, as it is student night in most places! This means cheap entry, cheap drinks and a 99% probability of getting smashed! Furthermore, there is a sense of independence at university which you do not get at home. Mum isn't there to cook all your meals or drive you places now! You will have to learn how to cook and even wash your own clothes! You will also gain valuable experience in shopping for bargains as money will be tight, this will help in later #life. You also have a responsibility to turn up to lectures on time and hand in assignments on time. Uni will give you experience in the house hunting market! Students at the end of their academic year always need to find another place to live or sort something out, this will usually require a deposit so don't spend all your April loan! All in all, university is a great stepping stone to adult #life, although students do get a bad reputation, most of us actually do work hard and don't spend the governments money on booze! You will experience a whole new culture as a student and I guarantee you will enjoy! - Scott Dack
