The Demon That Lurks Shadows were silenced as the night came. The#moonwas high in the midnight sky, looking down upon the darkened valley, full and bright. Trees were rustling softly, and a river twinkled in the moonlight, as if covered in crystal, and flowed quietly through the foliage. A black blur roamed the forest, large and deadly. It was unseen and unheard. It had red eyes, stood at six feet, and had a tail with enough power to kill pitiful souls. Its teeth stretched down to its chin, sharp and large like a dragon’s, dripping acid splinters off the tips of its fangs. Its claws were filled with enough power to rip flesh in a single swipe. This creature was a soul that was dark, deadly, and corrupted from horrible memories that didn’t go away. Scars glowed brightly upon this monster’s black furry body as it slunk through the darkness. It was a demon. A demon named Atreiyu. Mist flooded the valley in the morning dew, and the sun shone down upon the land while clouds passed by slowly, casting faint shadows on the grass below. A black wolf emerged from the fog, its glowing eyes holding a murderous look. With ragged breath and claws out, it stopped in the mist. The wolf lifted its head and howled, the echo travelling for hundreds of miles. As it lowered its head slowly, a smirk appeared on its muzzle. Walking a short distance, it came to the middle of a circular forest. Everything was silent. The black wolf looked around, searching for a response to its call. Its ears perked as it heard the sounds of a responding howl from a wolf that was coming closer to where this mighty beast stood. The sounds of paw pads hitting the ground became clearer, and the wolf knew it was found by a pack. A wicked grin showed its large white fangs, the tips slightly dripping with green droplets of acid. Then, loud growls echoed toward the small opening in the valley where the dark wolf stood. In that moment, a pack of wolves jumped out of the misty trees, snarling and snapping their fangs at the black wolf. One wolf came forward, analyzing the intruding rogue and showing dominance as the alpha. "Who are you?" He snarled. The black wolf chuckled, standing up to its full height, but giving no response. "I said who are you? And what is your business here?" The alpha snapped again. Still receiving no answer, the alpha lunged toward it. The wolf stepped aside and pinned the leader with one paw on the back of his neck, growling and smirking at the pitiful creature. The alpha whined, blood now trickling beneath the black wolf's claws. "I am Atreiyu, and my business here is to get rid of you and your pack." Atreiyu whispered the last part in the alpha’s ear. He snarled and snapped at her paw, earning a flinch that set him free. The alpha stood tall, but he was still no match for her height. "Ruuqo, stop. There is no way we can pick a fight with this…thing." A wolf spoke up. Atreiyu snarled and shot a threatening glare at the one who spoke. Ruuqo nodded and turned to face her. "Leave my territory or suffer the consequences. I don't care if you are stronger than I, but you are outnumbered. Stand down." She only chuckled at him. "I think it's best if YOU leave or suffer the consequences." The pack snarled angrily at her words. "We are going nowhere!" The alpha roared and lunged for her throat. Atreiyu stepped aside once again and grabbed his neck with her large canines, sinking them deep into his throat and cutting air from the windpipe. He whined and struggled beneath her grip. She held him there a while longer, and then he stopped moving, a loud crack echoing through the trees. Atreiyu dropped the #lifeless body of Ruuqo. The whole pack gasped, stepping closer and glaring murderously at this large black wolf who just slaughtered their alpha. "You will pay for what you have done!" A brown wolf roared. All the wolves charged towards her. She growled and grabbed one, breaking its neck instantly. Others jumped on her back, ripping flesh, biting hungrily. She snarled and spun around, throwing them off into other wolves and nearby trees, blood staining the once luscious green terrain. Crimson liquid dripped off the ends of her fur, soaking and recoloring her coat. She roared an echoing snarl, forcing them to cover their ears. Atreiyu took the opportunity to make a run for it. She ran into the forest at full speed, growling deep within. The sound of echoing calls behind her followed. Running faster, she leapt over a rock and towards a ragged chasm. The pack gained more ground and began to reach their top speed. Atreiyu saw the large drop between the two chasms and lunged, soaring across the sky and landing perfectly on the other side. Once again, she was running off into the distance, living to fight another day. The pack skidded to a halt, panting heavily and cursing in defeat. "She will pay one day." A large sable grey wolf said as they all walked back into the forest. Atreiyu smirked and stopped, standing tall and lifting her head. "I will return." She howled murderously. And then she was gone, nothing but a black blur to the wolves across the way. A black blur that would one day return and finish what it started: To kill them all one by one.
