Mermaids I scratch at his arms, digging long gnarled nails deep into his soft flesh piercing open blood veins for the water to sting. I wrap my long whipping fingers around his neck and pull him down in to the water and touch him to my lips. I empty his lungs of oxygen and fill them with the sea.
