01 NEWPOEM: Eddy "Eddy" In a marvellous little town Lived a daring fellow, Eddy. He could keep in his hand, for fun, A keg full of fine brandy! He, with his fingers, ploughed land much better than all ploughs! And even the chief of the dead Of him, was frightened to rouse. All thieves were overawed by him And every man perspired! But Eddy didn’t like the dreams And beauty, just like pirate! He lived like that for many years, drank vassal of dark ale, Until the fulminating cares Were untied his by bale! And once he woke up all alone, Forgetting name in prime! He felt in his head a thunder's tone And naught but fog and grime! So, he began to search for shoes But stumbled upon a tray. He fell to yard, receiving a bruise From hooves in that bad day. It was the noisome dirty goat That ate sweet beets and sprouts! And Eddy longed to cram his throat With water, dew or clouds! He soon began to find a glass As an old swine, by his snout, He turned around but found, alas, All efforts in vain: all-out! He crept away and began to yawl, As a wolf, because of blows He waited 'neath the waterfall And cried under the rose. But the goat bleated, and whereat, As luck would have it, guys Gave Eddy wine in a slop hat - Warmed-over and with spice! They befuddled him, and just for fun They didn’t want to stop it And then threw on his head a tun Loaded with rotten gobbets. These neighbours then all ran for help Whilst Eddy dreamt and turned In sleep of morning lakes and alp But, as on a scaffold, yearned... His throat choked wild with peppers, hot! He lost his dream and fluke! Oh…it is true? And would he not Die like the famous Duke? But no! All village, all-in-all, Came to him, unrelaxed. They wetted him with alcohol And boiling-water next… Then they gave him a cup of brine And beat with a nettle broom, With careless help, they cross’d the line But beer inspired his doom! Poor Eddy gurgled, cried! Alas! They didn’t listen then He hated a beer misted glass! How bad were all these men? They continued with their tries With many drinks and ways! As if they wanted Eddy fry And get bequest someday! This crowd buzzed in debate About choicest means Whilst Eddy crept away like shade - So brown, white and green! He dreamed about morning rain Or brooks with refreshing waves But he could not find it, again, In this colloquial place! The crowd realized their loss And they began to search Among a thicket, and across Rocks, roads and the church. Poor Eddy lay alone in shade And prayed hard for a chance To be rescue from these people’s aid... And to torch their underpants! The Lord heard him, and suddenly Man saw nearby a muse! The saviour for his fate and plea - A young lady with a cruse! She stood with hair coloured moon Rippling waters from the well! She was like a fairy, borne of June Or a genie with a spell! She gave him water, with a smile, And he sprung back to #life with bullock forces for a while and ready for some strife! And then he felt a taste, a sense Of dreams and beauty…Hey! This lady, his Queen, at a glance! He wed her the next day! Let’s drink, my good friends, to the tune Of well-timed beer on ice, To the sobriety of bridegrooms too And the courtesy of brides! ... 2002 (first version) - 2012 (translated final version)
