Flashback I woke up sweating Tears ran down my face As I get a flashback from my childhood I feel a disgrace I can’t get it out of my head I was so small Fragile and vulnerable My childhood torn apart Mum was an alcoholic And dad left when I was 5 I wanted to play with toys But I was busy fixing Mum I would draw pictures of strong men Heroes who would come to the rescue Not run away -like Dad But take us away so we didn’t feel sad All I know Is now I’m here Locked behind bars **Group work by #poetsin contributors. ##poetsin #poetry #groupwork #childhood #sadness #prison #lostinnocence
