Oh, Sarah Just like a fox, he stalks her like prey, Long, sleepless nights, to thoughts of her all day, If kryptonite is to Superman, what Sarah is to him, Then she has bitten him quite deeply, letting the venom slowly seep in. It's been four years of turmoil, the game lovers like to play, Break up, make up, lose her, and then once again, get her to stay. You want what you can't have, it's the excitement of the chase, But it has become insanity, heartache he must embrace. She doesn't love him anymore, he claims that he did leave her, Truth be told she's in love with another, and if he's lucky he'll believe her. There was never trust, it was never stable, They couldn't coexist, they just weren't able, For when she was in love, he couldn't give his heart, Now roles have reversed, he feels how she felt in the start. Too little, too late, he can't win her back this round, If he's smart, he'll move on, let Sarah become a distant sound. The memories will surely torture him, he'll only remember the good, He'll think of the poor choices he made, he'd turn back time if he could. Replaying every moment, over and over again in his head, He should have been faithful, took care of her, changed the words that he had said. He wonders back then, if he'd felt the way that he felt now, Would they still be together? Would he have been able to give his vow? How could it be over? He thinks surely she is the one, He wants to win her back once more, this sickness is his fun. Contemplating drive-by's past her house, and the new boyfriends too, This time it will be different he thinks, they'll start up something new. They'll forget the past, the heartache and sadness, They'll respect each other, stop all of the madness. They'll trust each other, communicate, Their love will conquer, defying fate. His twisted mind still believes there is hope, he didn't think it'd be this tough, The first thirty failed attempts to make it work, simply just weren't enough. He'd manipulate, to get her back, tell her what she wanted to hear, And as soon as she'd open her arms, he'd leave again in fear. Fear is what he'd tell her, or that he now needed time, He'd tell her countless lies, feed her any line. The fact is that he liked the game, he played with her heart for fun, But years of chipping away at her, Sarah eventually became numb. The only reason she ever took him back, after he'd crushed her soul, Was so she could make him feel the pain she felt, her heart replaced by coal. Her insecurities were hidden behind her mask, all the powder she wore on her face, His cloak, however, not visible, was precariously in place. What hurts him above all, is losing the emotional connection they developed, Fear of never finding that again, is a pain his heart has enveloped. He considered this a failure, he couldn't do anything right, To him, if he made it better, he'd sleep a bit better at night. The thing about a narcissist, is you only care about your own feelings, You don't worry about the aftermath, of all your destructive dealings. Is this real, romantic love? Or is this a clear case of psychosis? Are his woes just a façade, of love learned through osmosis? If this was true love that has been lost, it's best the world keeps it hidden, For he has been warned to stay away, he mustn't trespass where forbidden. Everyone told Billy to stay away, even Sarah told him it was dead, But the only voices he listened to, were the ones that were in his head. His mind told him he wanted her, he had to have her back, But reality was he was possesive, and just needed her as a snack. Fifteen years have passed now, and he's dove off the deep end, There is no hope for Billy now, and no chance for his heart to mend. The worst part of this story, I think the saddest part of all, Billy could have lived a normal #life...but he's still waiting for her call. If only back then, he could have escaped his thoughts from within, Then maybe today would be different, he wouldn't be locked in the looney bin. When he was in the free world, he could have chosen anything as a distraction, But now he's alone in a padded cell, his heart suffering from extraction.
