she survived, she thrived. She lay there, alone and vulnerable, Consumed with nothing but hurt, Believing she only had herself to blame, Because of the length of her skirt. Her breathing was slowly steadying, As she had run out of tears to cry, So still, she could mistaken for dead, And wouldn’t mind if she was to die. On one Friday night, it took less than an hour, To burn all her hopes and dreams, As the girl believed the words that were spoken, And she fell apart at the seams. She felt violated, disgusted in herself, The vital information about this, she did lack, She didn't yet know, but she was not alone, In this unjustly common fight for her #life back. She was too scared to speak out, And felt too vulnerable to even try, Thoughts racing around in her head, Why her? Why now? Why? Her #life, or so she believed, was over, How to move on, is that even possible? Should she seek closure, or justice? Everything upside down, unable to think logical. And now a year later, the same girl survived and thrived, As she stood on a podium, near that same spot, Ears listened as she told a story close to her heart, She got through it, even when she thought she could not. "You know what I've seen is that people who have gone through unfair, horrific experiences is that they have this will.
