Hi thanks for any comments and likes on my first chapter...keep 'em coming! So enjoy the next part... Chapter 2 The house was even worse inside, Chrissie started to howl loudly as we opened the large, oak door to reveal a dozen spiders. "No! Mum! Take us BACK!" she shrieked angrily, "I hate it, I hate it I hate it...!". "Chrissie SHUT UP!!!" I suddenly bellowed and she fell silent, her blue eyes looking shocked and hurt. Mum stared at me too and I felt guilt slide over me like slimy, green, goo. Just minutes ago my mother had told me she was proud of me for how well I was coping...what had I done? "I'm sorry" I mumbled into the silence and Chrissie gave a reproachful sniff, "Well you didn't need to yell at me..." she said in a teeny tiny voice. "I know I didn't. Sorry Chris.". Then I broke the silence yet again, "Look let's have a cup of tea OK? It'll cheer us up!", I jumped towards the closest door to see if it was the kitchen. There was a light switch on the wall, so I flicked it on and looked up at the ceiling hopefully. Nothing. "Oh for heavens sake!" Mum glowered angrily, "That old biddy SWORE we'd have light and heat! What a con!" She groaned. "Well, there's nothing for it...Carrie love?" Mum wheedled looking at me pleadingly. "OK, OK..." I sighed, "Where's the toolbox?". I'm the only one in our family who has the slightest idea how to fix anything, Mum can barely bang a nail in and Chrissie wouldn't even if she could. Our Dad was an electrician and I'd always chat with him while he was busy working. Occasionally he'd let me have a fiddle around with the wires and tools while he got on with the job. As I got older, I was trusted to do more important tasks and by the age of 12, I could fix the electrics better than Dad. At least that was what he always joked about. "Here's my little light bulb!" he'd grin, every time I came to see him. Then Dad would fish in his pocket and find out a shiny 20p. For being a 'Good Girl'. I loved my Dad. But then it all changed. "Carrie!". I was suddenly aware of someone poking me, I must have gone off in a little daydream. "Mum just said the toolbox is in the kitchen" Chrissie said and I nodded, my face red. "Yes...sorry...I'll get right to it...".
