The Demon It was a normal school day at Quayton Primary School, it was at break and I wandered around the play ground, I was looking for some shade. I finally found some, but something lurched in the shadows, I panicked. Nothing had ever happened to me, like this. I tried to calm down and relax. I told myself that it was just my imagination and tried to forget about it. Later that day, I was still trying to shake the uneasy feeling that I was being watched. After the experience with the movement in the shadows, I didn't particularly want to go back outside but I knew that I had to because our school didn't have any computer suites free at break and lunch. This time, though, I had a plan. I knew what I had to do. I strode outside to the shadows were I was at break, I ran to the shade and heard a soft grunt. I tried to catch whatever was there but it was too fast. In the end, I gave up and went back to lessons. But lucky for me, the creature was curious about me. By the end of the day, I had forgotten all about the mysterious creature. The bell rang and I trudged slowly home, oblivious to the creature stalking me. I knew it was a mistake, but I went straight up to my room, put my headphones on and turned the volume up high. Every night was like this, I had the worst parents ever -apart from my biological father, whom I went to see every Friday night and I got back on the Saturday night. My mom and stepdad treated my brother and I very badly. I hated them. I heard a hiss reverberate round the room, I took off my headphones and scanned the room for intruders. None. I thought I might just be hearing things, as all I could hear was the cries of my baby brother and my big brother blowing his nose. Finally, I decided to put the headphones back on until a growl emanated from the closet. I opened the closet door. Nothing. I whispered "Hello? Is anyone there?" Just another growl. I shrugged and decided to go to bed. As I lay on the soft mattress, I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep. After a while of the dreamless sleep. I awoke and then the dreams came. I was a unaware that I was sleep walking until too late. In the dream, I jumped out of my window and ran to the nearby woods, I heard wolves howling but I wasn't scared because it was a dream, or so I thought. When I woke up, I was in the middle of the woods and I heard a slight whisper, "Thank you." Fortunately, I knew the way home from the woods. I ambled along the concrete path towards home, I climbed up the large oak tree next to my house and climbed through the window and drifted back to sleep. The End By Eve Dickinson
