Alone On A Boat (Inspired by an image of a boat on a beach) As I sit silently in the breeze, My hands do I lock as they start to freeze; My lips quiver as I start to shiver, And warmth is the only thing I seize. A blanket, do I try to quickly unfold. My purple lips are dry and cold, And from them a twirl, then sharp curl Of bitter air rises with an upwards roll. My wooden boat rocks uneasily, So I start to steady it eagerly, But I never knew that what I do Could push me so far out to sea. And alas, it does But what a sight! Is there in front of me. For ahead is nothing But endless light As I now feel incredibly free. The calming crash of waves on rocks Make me want to yawn Floating away, I'll soon approach docks Before tomorrow's dawn. This thought alone: of somewhere knew, Means I should get some rest, So as there's nothing else to do I shut my eyes, and thought it best. But as I sleep, an endless dream Is what I have that night. The fought of perpetual travelling Gives me quite a fright For waking up alone is travelling With only dark, no light. I'm colder than ever Now I am awake And no dock is in sight. How I long to have a friend To help me through To journey's end.
