The Unexpected War: The Unexpected War: Many combat veterans have found the battle in coming home & finding our way back into society to be a very difficult fight. It has been a completely different & unexpected war of it's own in which we've often found ourselves alone without a trusted brother at our six. The fact is that we are not alone, but it's an isolating battle in it's nature. The only way to fight it is to reach out to each other, to talk about the things we're afraid to acknowledge out loud. But many will never know they're not alone unless one of us who have been through it all extends our hand to them first! That realization that we're not alone is what begins to set us free from our torment. Semper Fi, Nate Miller (Sgt USMC Retired)
