The Empty Glass Just one more drink' The lie I always think. Drinking to ease the pain, To get away from the brink. Everytime it's the same, Drink until my body feels lame. The alcohol touches the lip, The stomach churns and feels sick. But I keep going, To ease the pain left by your last kiss. The alcohol never stops flowing, Like the love for you I'm knowing. 'Just a few more swallows' I stutter as the alcohol follows. As the world goes black, My heart slowly hollows. I call for you to come back, But the door slams shut on the shack. All that remains is your sweet taste, And a distant memory of your beautiful face. Your memory slowly fades away, But in my heart you will always have a place. A love gone astray, With a heart left as prey.
