Vipassana/dhamma Dipa There are three main sankaras that can scar our subconscious mind. They leave deep seeded cravings or aversions to which in turn manifest themselves as pleasant or unpleasant sensations. 1. An experience drawn in WATER These are the lines that we draw upon water, the second they are scribed they disappear with the natural flow of water - an example would be when someone knocks into you! That split second you feel animosity toward that individual but after a few minutes has passed you naturally forget that incident. 2. An experience drawn in SAND These are the lines we draw upon sand, by the end of the day the tide reaches that line and washes them away. An example would be an argument you may have had with a close friend or family relative. At the moment you may be engulfed in anger and disappointment but by the end of the day you've learnt to forgive and forget. 3. An experience carved in ROCK These are the lines you carve into stone, they are what affect us greatly. It takes years and years for weathering to erode the deep seeded emotions. An example would be a tragedy in your #life or a bad experience that always seems to repeat itself in your daily existence, such as relationship issues or monetary problems. These are the hardest lines to dissolve, they become part of your very fabric and can consume you and dictate future decisions or actions. We all create hundreds of these lines every day but we only carry a few of the ones carved in rock past every week, likewise as the weeks pass and turn to years some of those lines erode and some are carried forward still. Some become deeply rooted without your realisation - these become the preconceived perceptions or judgements that you use to formulate future interactions or decisions. Every person should be treated equally - you can't use previous experiences to judge future ones just as you can't let a problematic issue sway you from tackling them again. We may all be the same but at the same time we are all different. Just as we learn from failure, we are not destined to fail at every attempt made. Through mastery of your mind we learn to reset our minds and see #life through a child's perception once again. It's a sight we should all be entitled to see and a sight we all have the capacity to reach. You may have been burnt in the past but don't let that dictate your present, likewise your future. Our minds are always at war with the present - Learn to calm your minds Learn to be the master of your minds... Always remain conscientious and aware of the impermanence of all sensations and experiences. "As it is" "As it is - at this present moment is all that matters" Master your mind and truly sculpt your own destiny.
