Once I Knew A Mirror Once I knew a mirror, Good friends we were. He hung upon that wall, Everyday and every night. Patient and waiting, For when I next came. Never doubted me, Never frowned. Always smiled, Always cheery. Most uplifting, In the hardest of times. My mirror, hung upon my wall. 'Carry on' 'never give up' My Mirror would say. As I'd stare into The reflecting glass, Which somehow entered my soul. No problem you can't defeat, No mountain you can't climb. My mirror would remind me. Until one day, Shatters my mirror became. At midnight, Smashing the silence. All on the floor, In sharp broken pieces. Who do I go to now? When I cannot climb that mountain. For sharp shatters are no use, When all is falling down around you. All that's left is a blank wall. Just a solid thing, No comfort it brings. Only to shun my eyes away, For its unpleasant look scares me.
