Burning Red [TMNT Raphael - FanFiction] Chapter 1 RIIING... RIIING... RIIING... I pushed the magazine forcefully off my face to turn toward the alarm clock and telephone setting on the messy coffee table next to me. The time read 9:45AM. "It's to early for this shit," I groaned as I slapped my hand on the receiver. I pressed it to my ear, grumbling an annoyed "Hello, Casey Jones speaking." "Hello, Mr. Jones. My name is Lucas Hilles of the New York Police Department." I sprang into a sitting position, listening very carefully to what the Cop had to say to me. "Okay, can I help you..Officer?" "Mr. Jones, I'm very to sorry to inform you that..your aunt Tabytha Jones passed away last night." I was taken back by this, I have known Aunt Tabi since I was a toddler. She acted more like a big sister to me than the traditional and expected role-modeled adult that she should have been. I loved her, she cared about me; loved me. When Ma took a deep spiral down to the worse in her drug addiction aunt Tabytha fed me, occasionally housed me (when I had no where else to be), believed that I could be more..even when she and I both knew I wouldn't do anything about it. "Oh, I see. Do you need me to...do something?" I rubbed the back of my head and neck, this news just gave me a headache. "Actually, yes. We need you to identify the body and sign some paperwork for us." Always! I rubbed my eyes in slight frustration, my headache is getting worse. "Okay, I'll be there in twenty minutes." "Wait, Mr. Jo.." I dropped the receiver down to soon, I picked up the telephone in a panic but it was to late. I hung up on him."Damn it! April, We've got to go down to the Cop Shop! You're driving!" At The Police Station We pulled up to the “Shop” in a screeching halt, the back tire hanging onto the curb. April and I both weren't very good behind the wheel, nevertheless this was just one of the many crazy things she does that attracts me to her. I pulled the broken door handle, to loosen the handle rod from the latch and kicked the door completely open. I examined the building until April took her place beside me, waiting for me to lead the way.The building looked old on the outside, almost looked like it was rusting even though the building was brick. This was Old-town, everything that use to be fabulous, now caked with age and buildings practically abandoned. I sighed and raised my sunglasses up to the top of my head, slipping my hands into my pockets. I really didn't want to be here. I walked to the entrance, pulling the glass door open and holding it for April to walk in first. A middle aged woman with permed, carrot-top hair raised her eyes to us looking curiously yet annoyed by our presence at her desk."Can I help you?" "Yes, a Officer Lucas Hilles called our home about Casey's aunt Tabytha. He's here to identify the body and sign some papers." Professional in a seemingly unprofessional place April. "Officer Hilles is at the St. Francis Hospital at the moment. But I do have some paperwork for you fill out here before you go." She slipped a brown folder off the side of her desk and handed them to April to look over. She was the organized one in this relationship. "Excuse me, but I thought he was here. Why is he at the hospital?" I asked over April's shoulder. "Wait..these are coustody papers. It says that Casey is the next in line for guardianship over a Tallinna Taylor Jones. "Wait! What now!
