Unseen Unseen No screaming calls Calls only in the sound of whispers Whispers that surround the depths of empty space A space where one light flickers Flickers like a child’s laughter Nighttime is short Short for a long time Time echoing against the walls Walls who capture hurried sounds Sounds that fade in passing moments Heavy breathing comes after A woman then appears Appears dragging on as her feet bleed Bleed from the endless running Running that gives no help Help that will never come Behind comes a child A child with wild eyes Eyes that intend to hunt Hunt as a predator and prey Quite simple of the prey The prey who gives a welcoming show A show for the child The child that holds a #life The #life of the woman ahead A dead end approaches Approaches too quickly for the woman The woman turns to the child The child holds out a teddy bear A teddy bear stained in red blotches Her back now against the wall The wall that only gives a horrid situation A situation which seemed impossible Impossible, however, is to be expected The child steps forward Forward until faced with the woman The woman's eyes trained on the teddy bear The bear that gave a twisted smile A smile that mirrored the owner's The smile grows wider A wide metal now glimmering in light Light that soon vanishes in the woman's eyes The woman's eyes stare duly ahead A simple phrase is spoken Spoken with a low and cruel laugh A laugh that does not fit a child "Good-bye, mother. Forever."
