Midnight Sun Saga: "I See The Light" Scene I was inspired by Stephenie Meyer's unfinished draft "midnight sun" to write this fanfic MIDNIGHT SUN SAGA: "I SEE THE LIGHT" Bella and Edward are sitting under a tree in the backyard of Edward's house when fireflies start to appear BELLA Fireflies! She giggles EDWARD What?? BELLA No it's stupid EDWARD It's all right you can tell me I won't laugh Bella thinks a moment BELLA When I was little my grandma and I used to catch fireflies together and she'd tell me that if you made a wish on a firefly and let it go, then it'd take it to the stars for you and your wish would come true She chuckles I was a naïve little 5 year old huh... He cracks a smile. EDWARD I think that's the sweetest thing I've ever heard BELLA So I've always had a soft spot for fireflies More fireflies appear and she excitedly gets up to go catch one (V.O.) All those days watching from the windows all those years outside looking in all that time never even knowing just how blind I've been now I'm here blinking in the starlight now I'm here suddenly I see standing here it's oh so clear I'm where I'm meant to be and at last I see the light and it's like the fog has lifted and at last I see the light and it's like the sky is new and it's warm and real and bright and the world has somehow shifted She looks back at Edward, who's holding her book he smiles All at once everything looks different now that I see you She walks over to him and sits down next to him and smiles Oh you found my book! She smiles Thanks. Remembers something I have something for you too She hands him a little handmade crotchet black dragon stuffed animal with green button eyes (embarrassed) I made this for you I meant to give it to you earlier but I was scared you'd laugh because it looks dumb but the thing is, I'm not scared anymore... All those days chasing down a daydream all those years living in a blur all that time never truly seeing things the way they were Bella's eyes widen as a firefly floats towards them she points towards it and gently catches it in her hands and raises her closed hands to the sky and releases the firefly Now she's here shining in the starlight now she's here suddenly I know He takes her hand in his she looks at him, surprised, her eyes widen and she blushes If she's here it's crystal clear I'm where I'm meant to go BOTH (out loud) And at last I see the light! EDWARD And it's like the fog has lifted BOTH And at last I see the light! BELLA And it's like the sky is new! BOTH And it's warm and real and bright and the world has somehow shifted He holds her face between his hands All at once everything is different now that I see you... Bella closes her eyes, content, relaxed Now that I... See you... He gently kisses her And she lays her head on his shoulder as the stars come out one by one and she sighs
