Chapter 12: A Not So Normal Morning When Nadya turned the corner, Josh's face broke out into a genuine smile. He walked the opposite way she did and went to the kitchen. Just as he put the plate and cup down he heard a scream coming from the dining room. In the blink of an eye he was right there next to the screamer staring into her face. She was against the wall and a smoking burn mark was right above her head. He put together the situation in his head and sighed. He turned and shook his head at one of twins. He still couldn't tell them apart. "I told you shrimps to let me talk to her first before any of you released your powers." He took in the sight before him. One of the twins was putting out the rest of the flames on her body and around her while the other was sitting on air and Amira was talking to a scared doe in the corner. How it got in there baffled him. The only one not doing anything out of the ordinary was Mabel. She was actually no where in sight. Josh sighed again and turned back to Nadya. Well the space that she was in because she was also gone. He heard water running upstairs and the back door slam shut at the same time. He was sure it was Mabel in the upstairs bathroom so he guessed it was Nayda that went out the back door. He followed her but not before he barked an order for them to clean up their messes. He walked out the back door and was shocked to see how huge the backyard was. It had another building in the center of what looked like a huge maze. It was made of old stones of all shapes and sizes. "That's the pool," came a small sing songy voice behind him. He turned to see little Mabel with a knowing smile on her small face. He will probably never get used to the fact that the next Seer was a 6 year old. But he nodded and walked toward the building. "No cheating," called the voice from behind him. He frowned but kept walking. About time he made it to the building he was highly irritable. All that melted away though as he spotted Nayda in the water, floating on her back. She changed from her bed clothes to a black, white and blue bikini. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun and he saw her eye that she kept hidden. Actually there was nothing wrong with her eye. Not from what he could see since they were closed. What she kept hidden was the raised scars on her the left side of her face. They were wall jagged lines that went from her hair line to the bottom of her ear. It looked as though someone had clawed her face. "Take a picture. It'll last longer," came the guarded voice from the pool. "Nah, I forgot my camara. Plus I'm fine with staring." "What do you want Josh?" Nadya asked, not at all amused but his comment. "I just want to talk." "Then talk, but there is no gurentee I'm listening." To emphasize her point she let her body sink then she floated again. They both stayed quiet for a long while. A couple of minutes passed by and Nadya finally swam to the opposite side of the pool. It was the first time Josh had ever seen her back. Just like the side of her face, her back also had raised scars all over her back. She got out of the pool and sat in a chair. She didn't bother to dry off. "Is he dead?" She asked quietly. Josh looked at her and shook his head. "No. But he is going to prison. For the rest of his #life."
