Every time I called, she ignored it. When I called her house phone, and Noah picked up, Carla would pick up another one and scream into it until I hung up. I was pretty miserable. At school, I had no one to talk to, and at home I just sat around, staring into space. I didn't want to read, because Carla and had always read the same books and then spent hours talking about them when we had finished. I didn't want to do any clubs, because Carla and I had always done all our clubs together. I definitely didn't want to try to meet up with anyone else, because Carla was my only friend and I thought it only right not to betray her any more.
