Motivations Do you write for yourself, or for your audience? Would you still write if there was nobody there to read?

Both. But as very few people have actually read my writing and some of it I wouldn't want to share anyway. So maybe it doesn't really matter?!

Ooo this is a good question. I write for myself as I enjoy the experience, however, I love the idea one day it will be read for others and enjoyed by an audience.

I agree, @KT77 , both are motivations. I write because I enjoy the creation of texts and I do pain over them. I consider them equal to my music: I enjoy the feeling of pride after listening back to the finished product that I have laboured over, but I want others to hear it as well. Oddly, I actually don't need to hear what they think; iris enough to just know that people have heard it. I am not saying that I don't like praise, but these creations are my babies and of course I want them admired as I stand by like a proud parent, but criticism hurts even more than direct criticism of me. The same goes for my writing. Music, art, literature, performance, they're all equal.

Yeah both. It can be a good release to get feelings/emotions out the system. If others enjoy them, get inspired and feel the connection then I'm happy, constructive criticism is welcomed too, that's good, instead of just "great" or "cool" lol

Yes I would write if nobody read my work. I started writing for myself and only shared my work with my fiancÃ© who told me I should show it to people. So far I only shared one story with strangers and most of the time I write because I love to. It's one of the things I enjoy most in life. Knowing others enjoy it it's a plus.
