Finally Smiling She walks into school, head down, music loud. She drowns out the laughter, judgement, stares. She doesn't understand, why does nobody like her, why is she so odd? She sits in class, nail biting, leg shaking. She can't concentrate, head pounding, thoughts spinning. She goes to lunch, silently sitting, loneliness killing. She won't eat, tummy grumbling, empty feeling. She goes home, always failing, parents screaming. She lays in bed, door shutting, lights darkening. She decides she's done, wrists bleeding, finally smiling.
