Quiet Nights And Curiosity I pulled a blanket over a few chairs and then stood happily over my half-made fort. I'd been forced into my cabin for the night due to camp rules and luckily I didn't have to listen to a counselor since I was the only one in my cabin, thus I stayed up half the night. And tonight I was busying myself with building a childish fort. Then there was a knock on my door. I looked at my clock. It was almost eleven. I raised a brow and carefully made my way to the door. I opened it and found Jake standing there. I immediately pulled him inside before the harpies outside caught sight of him. Once inside I gave him a good look over. He was in his pajama pants but he still wore his camp shirt, his hair was messy as if he had slept for a little bit. Yet he was smiling. "What's up?" I asked. Jake wasn't necessarily a goody two-shoes but he wasn't a bad boy either and he always had a respect for curfew. Why now? "I broke up with my girlfriend" he announced. I didn't know what to say because he seemed so happy so I finally replied with a confused laugh, "Um...congrats" Jake looked over my shoulder towards the fort behind me but continued talking," I actually need to talk to you and--what the heck is that?" I looked at him innocently," A fort" "Really Lilly?" "It's a fort! Hey, do you want to help me finish it?" I asked and Jake realized he couldn't say no because he still had to talk to me. So we worked to finish the blanket fort and when we finally did I sent Jake under to try it out. Then I directed him to wait a second and then went to get a few extra things. I poured two glasses of blue Gatorade into a fancy wine glass Mike had stolen from Mr.D for me. Then I grabbed some whale crackers and popcorn and ducked into the fort. Jake smiled when he saw me. We snacked on the food and Gatorade quietly until I finally spoke up, "So what happened?" "Well...I don't know. She was kind of controlling and...well it sounds stupid but we didn't have feelings for each other. Both of us liked other people" he answered. I chewed on a cracker awkwardly," So when did this happen?" I left out the feelings for another person crap. "A few hours ago" Jake replied matter-of-factly. "Oh..." I rubbed the back of my head. "Anyways" Jake perks up again and scoots closer to me. I grin at him as he looks down at me," About this other girl" I say playfully. Jake laughs," Oh her. Well I'm with you now so I'll talk about her later" I smirk, "What a player" Jake pushes me," Watch it Argo!" We both giggle for awhile and talk about the stupid things we've done and just in general share warm stories we've grown fond of. Then Jake leans back into the blankets and pillows under him. The sight looks inviting and I wonder if we've been talking for longer than I thought. I lean back with him and yawn. "When you were dating Asher did you ever have second thoughts?" Jake asked. "Asher!" I exclaim," That's ancient history Jake." "I know. It's just a question?" Jake replied. "I don't know but...why are we talking about this? We should talk about the war or something" I said. Jake shrugged," There's always better things to talk about but there's some things that have to be said" I looked at him. He confused me, speaking in what seemed like rhymes, I wondered if it was an Apollo thing. He looked over at me now and smiled," And I have something that has to be said" "Hit me" I said with a grin. "I can't really explain it" Jake replied with a laugh. "Well why'd you want to tell me!" I complained jokingly. Jake gave me a look,"To make you curious" Then he leaned over and kissed my forehead gently. I was too surprised to react as Jake laid his forehead on mine," I should get going" He stood up to leave and as I followed him he stopped at the door," Goodnight and I hope you're curious. And about that other girl..." He smiles over his shoulder. And like that he was gone. Damned boy. He knew how to confuse me. I smiled to myself and surprised myself because I really didn't mind it much.
