Loving the Wolf #LovingtheWolf Chapter One: “Mom, I’m going out, I’ll be back later.” I barked more than said. Immediately I heard a low growl from behind me. I knew it was my father, because I felt my alpha’s power flow over me. “Where do you think you’re going, Billy? You’re still in trouble for staying out all night with that girl!” dad growled out. “Dad, Jessica was a friend. She’s not my mate; I would never do anything to anyone other than my mate. Even then I probably won’t, because I’m too young. My wolf wouldn’t let me do anything with anyone but my mate, and you of all people should know that dad.” I said, feeling my alpha’s power fade a little. “Good”, I thought “I’m making his worries fade. Maybe I can get out now.” “Where are you going? You’re still grounded for staying out all night without even giving us a call.” dad said more humanly, now. “I’m sorry dad; I didn’t mean to worry you. I’m going jogging. My wolf wants out, and I want exercise. Can I go?” I asked politely, knowing that I’m not only speaking to my father, but my alpha, and if he says no, he means no. “Yes, go. I expect you to be back within an hour, if not, your mother and I are coming after you.” Dad ordered. “Thank you, alpha.” I said escaping his power. Jogging always helps me get my head straight. I thought as I ran for the forest. “I remember when I first learned about my heritage.” I said out loud, drifting to the memory on autopilot, jogging through the forest. “I’m a what?!” I shouted at those crazy people sitting across from me. “Billy, you’re a Canis Lupus. Come on, doesn’t it at least make some sense? When you get too emotional you started getting hot, like a fever.” Dad said “Yeah, that is weird, but a werewolf? You guys are just trying to freak me out. It’s not going to work.” I said. “What about when you were in trouble, and when I was near to you, you’d stop and freeze, and obey me without words? That’s my power, as alpha of the pure breed Grey Wolves. You’re the heir to the pack. To all the animal packs. The sooner you realize this, the easier it will be when you get your markings. Your wolf will become restless too, and he’ll make more appearances in your daily #life. He’ll want out. You can accept this now, or when you have physical proof.” As if on cue I started sweating. “See, look what you’re doing: giving me another fever. Well I’m freaked out, so you can stop with the story.” I begged. “Let’s go outside, where we can give you physical proof.” Mom said, exchanging looks with dad. “Okay, fine, whatever.” I said walking towards the door. The heat increased greatly as I walked outside. Gradually as I stepped off the porch it got hotter and hotter. I turned around waiting for my parents. They stood there a moment, as if preparing me for something. Then there was a flash of light, and where my parents stood, two great wolves stood instead. My feverish temperature increased like the blinding sun, and the next thing I know, I’m enclosed in a baby blue light. It was beautiful. It was nothing like the light that surrounded my parents. That light was white. As the light lifted I could tell I was on all fours. “What ju--” I cut myself off as I noticed my voice. It’s so deep, and throaty, I thought. My mom then trotted to me and nuzzled me. “Honey, we tried to explain before it happened to you. You didn’t believe us.” Mom started “We don’t blame you, though. We know it’s a hard thing to accept.” My dad finished for mom. “Tata!” I cried. I haven’t called my father that in years. It used to comfort me when I was young. I sprinted to my father, to get the reassurance I needed. My mother and father began to teach me all I needed to know about my wolf, and the marks I have. Later that year, I had a talk with my father about mating. He told me that each wolf only has one mate. He also told me about the animal packs, and each animal pack has sub-packs, with different subspecies of that animal. He told me that the wolf pack is the highest animal pack, and the highest wolf pack is the Grey Wolf pack, ours. As everything came back in view, I noticed I was running through the forest. As the blue light embraced me (which for some reason is brighter now, more than the first time I changed) I kept running, and then fell on all fours, and sprinted after an elk. I’ll have to ask my parents about the light later. I thought.
