Black and White : Part 8 "So did you find any that you like?" Neo asked. "Wait a second," I said, walking over to the creepy looking desk that I assume was a cashier, "I'm gonna go ask the employee." Is what I said. But I really don't see anyone here other than Neo and myself. Neo nodded and went the other way looking for huis own staff. As I got closer to the cashier, I spotted a spirit behind it and it grew more and more visible. "Excuse me?" I asked in front of the desk. "What is it?" the spirit disappeared and reappeared right beside me, startling me. Her voice felt like cold air on my ears. I looked at her. She was almost transparent and ghostly, her skin so pale it made her look sick. On the other hand, she was beautiful with large glistening light brown eyes. She had silky light grey, almost white hair that looked more and more translucent as it went down her waist. Surprisingly enough, she's wearing jeans and a t-shirt. "What are you staring at?" the spirit said, sounding a little pissed which surprised me. "Oh sorry. I'm looking for a Portal Staff," I said, "I need one with four Blue Stones. If possible, I want one that can be used for combat." "Oh? Portal Staff? It's pretty rare to see a Portal Maester these days," she said as she turned the other way, walking towards a door, "and four Blue Stones? That's quite a powerful staff you're ordering. I've got one behind the door. Come with me." I followed her inside the hallway behind the door. As I walked behind her, I realized that she was barefooted and her feet didn't make a sound as it touched the ground. Her hair swayed slightly from side to side, its translusence becoming more and more visible. In the end of the hallway, there was a small room about ten meters squared. On the stone floor there was a magic circle. The spirit placed her hand on the center of the circle and chanted something before pulling out a staff's edge. When she pulled the entire thing out she spun it a little to the side, then stabbed the bottom edge of the staff on the ground, destroying the stone floor. "What do you think? Pretty sturdy huh?" she said proudly. I had never seen such a staff before. It looked like a blue spear with five blades on the tip. One blade was on the middle while the other four circled around it. The bottom of the staff had a sharp blade. The body of the staff was engraved with spells. The whole thing was clear aqua colored. The blades were shaped like glaciers with a blueish shade. "Are you sure that's a staff?" I asked, eyeing it suspiciously. "How rude! Of course it is! It's the invincible staff Excalibur," she explained, "The one that King Arthur used." "I thought that Excalibur was a sword," I said, "And wasn't King Arthur a knight, not a mage?" "You're one silly boy, to believe in the weird ass story tweeked by humans. It's true that King Arthur did go to the human world to lead them, but no human can possibly weild Excalibur and survive." "So Excalibur wasn't a sword?" "Sword? Hmph, don't make me laugh. This weapon is powerful. So powerful that it would be foolish to place it in any category. This weapon has a soul of its own. It reads the heart of its wielder and becomes the perfect weapon for them." "Wouldn't that make it the most powerful?" Suddenly her face turned grim and her eyes looked down as she spun the blue staff behind her "Well actually," she said nervously, "Umm, it was supposed to be one of the most powerful... well that was until, it was seperated from its other half, otherwise known as its scabard." "So? The downsides are?" "It can't change forms. Ever since it was seperated from its scabard, it became stuck in this form, a combination of other weapons into one." Oh, so that's why it looks so sinister and vile. "But it still has its other powers! This sword is very powerful! I'm very sure that it would strengthen you greatly!" she said desperately. "You seem to really want me to weild it," I said suspiciously, "Judging from the way its sealed and all, you don't just sell it off to some random customer do you? And plus, this doesn't look a thing like a portal staff "Well it could be used for different types. All types actually," she said nervously, "I know this weapon extremely well! I'm sure it would be very compatible with you!" "You're hiding something aren't you?" I asked. She suddenly stopped spinning the staff. I knew it. Judging from her reaction, I'm probably right. Oh, I see now. "Someone told you to give it to me," I said, finally figuring things out, "And if I'm guessing right, your name should be," I paused, looking at her as she started to nervously bite her lower lip, "Your name is Morgan le Fey, isn't it?" "How?" she looked at me, her eyes wide with fear. I shrugged. "Well I guessed," I said nonchalantly. She took a step back nervously. "Please don't tell anyone!" she begged. "Relax, I won't. Just tell me," I asked, "Who told you to do this?" "I-It was him!" she answered quickly, "the boy you came with earlier!" I sighed. I knew it, something is always fishy when a random kid asks you something. "Why?" I asked, trying to fish out more info. She took a step back, her eyes growing wider as she looked at me. Something was wrong. She looked like she was looking straight pass me. I turned around and found Neo at the other end of the hallway. I smiled and turned to face him, crossing my hands. "So? What do you want with me kid? Is it really worth all the trouble to shove that staff on me?" "and just when I start letting my guard down, thinking you were actually pretty dumb." "Ouch, that hurt," I replied sarcastically, "Okay kid, I really have some other stuff to do, so if you tell me what's going on, I won't touch you." "Wow I'm sooo scared," he taunted, a wide grin spreading on his face, "By other things to do, do you mean finding a way to get to your sweetheart?" "Here I am, starting to think that you were pretty cute. Guess I was majorly wrong though." "Let me explain what's going on here for a minute," he said, turning serious all of a sudden, "I might be using tricks to give you that staff, but it's really an honest gift. This is not a scam whatsoever. That staff really is Excalibur and it's true that it's powerful. Someone simply told me to give it to you. That person insists to have their identity kept top secret. But really, that staff has been paid full by that person and that person really wants you to have it?" So, someone told Neo to give it to me? Well that makes a lot of sense. "Well why not?" I finally said, "It's pretty powerful and it's free. I don't see a point in no taking that staff." I turned back and the staff was given to me properly. After she handed me the staff on my right hand, Morgan le Fey took my left hand. "Excuse me," she said, turning my hand so that she could see my palm. She pushed my long sleeves back until my elbow and held my wrist. Her hands felt really chilly. "This is the sword of King Arthur Pendragon, the ruler and hero of a nation. Excalibur is her name," she chanted, "and his sword she once was. But for now until eternity, may she stay by your side. May little sorrow fall upon you and may this weapon serve you well in your most glorious days. May your deeds bring you glory and may your purpose be fulfilled. I bestow upon you, Excalibur the weapon of heroes," she finally finished. Suddenly from the wrist that she held, a black silhouette of thorny vines appeared and grew on my skin, resembling a tattoo. It grew until it filled my fingers and the growth stopped when half of my wrist until my elbow was full of vines. "That will be proof that you are the wielder of Excalibur. No matter where you go, the staff will always come back to you," she said, finally letting my wrist go. "Be careful," Morgan le Fay warned, her face worried, "Excalibur is a sword with a soul. It has to be kept sacred, she is alive. Do NOT anger her." "Speaking from experience?" I asked, and her face fell. I'll take that as a yes. "Well?" Neo said, "Now that the ritual wish-wash is done, go out and find her. Oh, and a message from the person who gave you the staff, 'She doesn't have the courage to save herself, so it's up to someone else to save her. It doesn't have to be you, but I figured you'd be really mad if someone else was given the job,' #quoted exactly from the person." I cracked a smile. How cheeky! "Well then, now that I have the staff, I suppose I'll get going," I said, opening a portal with the staff. Wow, it really is quite powerful. I stepped inside and found that there was mist covering everything. "Oh, and one more piece of info from me," Neo said as the portal started to close behind me, before flashing me a cheerful smile, "Be careful, someone's after your memories."
