My Own Seat : Part 35 *RINGGGG * I opened my eyes drowzily and tried my best to sit up straight. *RINGGGGGGG* I yawned. *RINGGGGGGGGGG* "Fucking hell! I get it already, I'm picking it up!" I screamed, frustrated, "Goddammit..." I reached out and picked the phone up. "Good morning, it is currently 6 am. Please do pick yourself up before the guest does." "Are you Jennifer's maid?" "Yes I am. And my name is Katherine. Please call me that instead. Although I am Jennifer's personal maid, I do a lot more than take care of her needs." "Fine fine. What do you want?" "Did I not request your attendance at 6 am. Analyzing the abomination's schedule, I believe that her usual morning routine ends on 12 pm. A new request from Jennifer came. Apparently my duty now is to assist you in avoiding the abomination. 'On second thought, get Alex to be as far away from that witch as possible! Her malice is contagious!' was what she said." Jennifer.... Seriously? "I was also ordered to make your #life as uncomfortable as possible as punishment," Katherine continued. I'm starting to think that Jennifer has a lot of pent up anger against me. "Alright fine. I'm getting up," I groaned, getting rid of my blanket and putting back the phone. I went over to my closet and pulled out a shirt. "And also, please get yourself in the habit of sleeping with your shirt on. The maids find it uncomfortable when they wake you up every morning," Katherine said through the phone on loudspeaker then disconnected. Godammit! I'm a guy! It's okay to sleep shirtless! I can do whatever I want dammit! I quickly put on the shirt and used a pair of long jeans. Then I ran out the room to the kitchen. "Yo," Trevor said as I entered the kitchen. He was sitting on the coffee table with a PS Vita on one hand and a glass of iced tea on the other. His hair was messy as usual and he was wearing his trademark black dress shirt which he managed to completely look messy in. "What are you doing here?" I asked, going to the fridge. "Watching you," he said, redirecting his attention to the PS. Loud Japanese music blared through the room as his fingers rapidly pressed the buttons, "And playing Project Diva 2." I sighed. Him and his unexpectedly nerd ways. I mean, who could've guessed that a ladies' man like him would absolutely love those weird Japanese cartoon games. "Are you a part of Jennifer's torture team?" I groaned heavily. No one has ever woken me up before nine, not even once in my whole entire #life. "You could say that," he replied quickly, trying to multitask while playing his game. I looked at him as he placed his complete attention back to his PS. "You know, you could at least say that you're on my side even though you don't mean it," I sighed, sitting down on the coffee table in front of him and slumping down, "How insensitive can you be to your only best friend? You should be sticking up for me in during hard times like this when my whole family hates me." I watched as he completely ignored me. When the song finally finished, a grin full of satisfaction spread on his face, then he closed the game and placed it on the table. He held his glass of iced tea and looked at me. "Well you're the one who's wrong in this case," he said matter of factly, "I'm not leaving you or anything. I'm just picking the right side." "Wow, thanks a lot," I sighed with my face down, "You're so helpful." "You're welcome," he replied, taking a sip from his glass, "Afterall, it's the good friend's job to bring his best friend back to the right path." "Don't preach," I groaned, looking at him, "You've got no right to preach. Just know that I won't approve of you and Jennifer if you don't stop your useless philandering with women." "Hey, at least I don't sleep with them!" he said as his face turned into a light shade of red, "Don't bring Jennifer into this!" "Well that was a complete one eighty from you," I smiled, "I guess you really do have a thing for Jennifer. "S-shut up," he blushed, taking another sip from his glass, "Right now we're talking about your problem. Don't bring up my problems." "Fine." "By the way," his tone suddenly turned serious, "I came here to tell you to stop your relationship with Hillary. The doctor just did a physical checkup on Lizzette and they found that her heart was beating normally again. She's basically sleeping right now. She could wake up any moment." I could hear my heart beating faster and faster. What's going on? Shouldn't I be happy about it? What is this lump in my chest? I should just break out of this tiring relationship with Hillary. "Hey," I called out to Trevor, "What do you think would happen if she knew about it? Would she hate me?" Trevor let out a tiny chuckle, "This is the first time I've seen you ever want to please a girl so much. First love at your age? Come on, what have you been doing with your #life all this time?" "Oh shut up, at least I didn't fall in love with a childhood friend three years younger than me that is also my best friend's sister. "D-Didn't I tell you that we're talking about you right now?" I laughed but heard myself turn bitter, "What the hell should I do now?" "I think that it's fine if she knew about it. I don't think that your girl's the type to just dump you because of this." "Dump? We're not even dating yet." An awkward silence followed my words, as Trevor tried to process the new information. A look of disbelief formed on his face. "What? You're kidding me." "The problem is, unfortunately, I'm not." "Are you telling me your charm plus desperation didn't work on her? She's not seriously immune is she?" "I'm afraid she is." "She doesn't seem to hate you, though. That's a pretty good start." "That's another problem. She doesn't hate me and she doesn't love me either. We're friends. I know that she's trying to trust me. If I betray that trust, there's no going back. She's been hurt before. I don't wanna hurt her." My thoughts traced back to the time after the party where she cried her eyes out in front of me. My heart throbbed as I remembered her face. It hurts to see her like that. "I understand. But won't being with Hillary hurt her more? I've heard about the way she talked down on Lizzette during the party from Jennifer. She said it wasn't pretty." "Hillary did that? I can't believe that girl," I said, my palm on my head. "Part of it was your fault. You kept on leading her on all these years by not rejecting her properly. Plus, you used her body. Well, girls like that, they turn evil. And when girls turn evil, they turn ugly," he said seriously. "I know. I'm a jerk. No, more than that. I'm a piece of shit for doing all that. Now that I'm on the giving side, I understand how those girls feel." "Just a month ago, you were such a cheeky bastard, nightclubbing everynight and bringing home so many different girls. It's good to know that meeting the girl changed you for the better." "You're talking like a mom." "Well with a kid like you, one mom is never enough," he laughed, then stood up, putting down his now empty glass on the table, "well do what you want for the time being. But when the time comes you better know what to do." "Yeah, yeah mr. Wiseman." "Cheeky little brat," he smiled, before walking to leave the kitchen. "Hey Trev," I called out, "thanks for listening." He stopped right before the exit and looked back.
