The Marked One: 29 Chapter 29: A New Encounter #TheMarkedOne With the house now looking like a house, I looked through the details that I couldn't notice before. The living room was not big but not too small either and housed a small navy blue leather couch in one corner. Across from the couch was a television set that looked ancient. I guess no one ever watched any TV in this household. Then walking to the right of the living room was a kitchen separated by a wall and I don't think more than one person at a time could attempt to cook in it. 'No one even cooks anyway,' Dakota added to my thought. I was deliberately thinking in a way so she could listen to what my impressions were. It was keep to her entertained in some way. Finally walking past the kitchen and reaching a hallway with two rooms right across from each other, I turned the knob of the door on the left. When the door opened, I quickly moved my legs to reach the bed I woke up on. I first thought about checking out Zach's room, but Dakota would not stop yelling in my mind about why I shouldn't. I mean, I already went in once when I had to clean the room but I found no time to actually look at it. 'Lady, ya are gonna lose the respect earned from me if ya go in that room over there,' she would say threateningly. 'Let's not make my body have to go through being in his room, will ya?' So, I gave up on the idea and just came to her room instead. The walls were still pastel yellow and the bed was still on the opposite corner of the room from her door. My body felt sore all over and my eyelids could not have felt heavier than they were. So, I let my tired body take control of me and laid myself down on the bed sprawled diagonally so my legs were hanging out. I was deep asleep within seconds and this time, I didn't meet Jackie in my dreams. * * * In a distance, light footsteps began to echo the walls. The sound was very soft that I first thought it was just a part of my dream. However, the sudden picking up of pace made me figure out something was strange about it to be a dream. After a couple of seconds, the door to Dakota's room swung open, hitting the wall with a big 'bang'. Heavily opening my eyes, I turned my face to the direction of the door and saw a man in his early or mid forties standing. Instantly, I felt Dakota's senses sharpening up in recognition. It was Zach Teaton.
