Paralysed Just a typical day. Nothing special. Wandering. Following the pavement with nowhere to go. I hear the normal sounds of the city; car alarms, ringing phones and loud voices fill the dirty air. In the distance, police car sirens blare. A van screeches round the corner, the authorities in close pursuit. Heading straight for me. Everything is in slow motion. People jumping out of the way. I can remember sirens, going on and on, never a break in their call. I turn to run but don't really try. I know what's coming and I'm not scared. The last thing that I can remember is the extreme pain as the van slammed into my spine.
