New Beginnings [I sat quietly at my desk staring at a stack of paperwork. Fury had decided that a desk was the best place for me right now since my relationship with Tasha had... Become somewhat more than just colleagues. It was none of his damn business what happened outside of the office, but it didn't stop Fury giving me a lecture about responsibilities. I had tried to confront him calmly but he just ranted on about how "Chasing a piece of ass." was making me sloppy in the field. I tried to make him understand that what me and Tasha had was more than just sex but it fell on deaf ears.... Sighing deeply I threw my pen down and slumped back in my chair. Minutes must have passed as I went over everything in my mind, looks like it all came down to one simple choice... Fury or Tasha. Hell! I could find freelance work in a heartbeat but Tasha ... Well, she wouldn't ever walk away and I wouldn't expect her to. That's the reason I loved her so damn much. On the outside she came across a real uncaring bitch but that was just for appearances. She cared far more about her work and the people around her than everyone realised. Decision made I sat up, booted my laptop and began typing quickly. I hadn't thought about how Tasha would react to my decision but I wasn't backing down now. I read the document over quickly and sent it to the printer. As I heard the printer warming up in the corner of the room, I began to pull open the desk drawers and empty the contents onto the desktop. Reaching for my bag sitting beside me I threw what I could into the bag. Fury could send on whatever I left behind... Or toss it into the trash. I jumped from my chair and grabbed the printed document, quickly scrawling a signature at the bottom before stuffing it into an envelope. Looking around the office one final time I scooped up the laptop replacing it with the letter. Briskly I strolled towards the door before suddenly pausing... I'd forgotten something /very/ important. Placing my bag down I headed to a small safe in the corner of the room. Kneeling down in front of it I entered the combination and leant back a little as the heavy door swung open. Pushing various documents to one side I reached out and grabbed a small red box from the back of the safe. Standing up I slipped the box into my pocket as I reached for my bag and headed to the door. Slamming it shut behind me I slowly strolled down the corridor. Even though I was walking into a future unknown, at least I knew Tasha would be standing right next to me.]
