A Night Of Despair The rain pounds, Hammering at my subconscious. The droplets stumble down, They don't ask what is wanted. Water cascades, Winds whisper. Anger grows ablaze, Staggering quicker. The humid, earthly smell, The translucent mist. A tempest pelts, Voices of hurrying water hiss. Undecided, never vain, It pummels, pours. It cannot be tamed, Casting along English shores. Then a voice, Screams out to humanity. Its own choice, Its own sanity. Thunder, thunders down, Lighting, strikes alight. An excruciating sound, Demands thought the night. The raindrops still pelting, Knocking at my window glass. Soon they are melted, By the blazing sun- alas! The envious eyes that once gleamed, Blink- with the last few drops spilling, The voice that once screamed, Is forgotten, as a lost shilling.
